New Year?

When The Fuzz stepped out in the yard tonight, this is what he saw.

He's not real sure about that "Jupiter" one, but he thinks he did recognize the Moon.
But being as it is New Year's Eve and all, I got to wondering. If this Calender is based on the Sun and stuff like that, why does the year end (or start) now, instead of at the Solstice? I mean, wouldn't that make more sense? Is there something here I don't know about? Undoubtedly, I mean, like The Fuzz, I'm just a dumb ass garbageman. But sometimes I wonder about this stuff.
But since we're discussing planets and spacey stuff like that, here's one we all have a certain attachment for.
But we would like to take this opportunity to say Good Bye to 2008, it's been a heck of a year!

But is it Art? - Mystery Pix

This one shouldn't be too hard.
But I have to ask, Is it "Art"?

Tea Party

This is an actual picture of the first pot of tea being brewed in our future home.
Here on the 4th day of Christmas, The Fuzz and His Sweetie went out to the Trailer hoping to get a little work done.
The Fuzz wanted to slip a little flashing under the edge of the roof to help keep the rain away from the door. He was only marginally effective in this. Trailers, it seems, have no eaves. I suppose this is because they have to somehow be able to fit on the road. The Fuzz likes eaves. The long-term plan calls for covering all this with a tin roof. The Fuzz likes tin roofs. That will be one of the first big projects. But first we will need power, a well and somewhere for the toilet to flush to.
But since there is no power for the stove yet, we broke out this little feller for a hot cup of tea.

Christmas Events '08

Here's Young Daughter's new Christmas Ornament. This little guy likes cold weather I'm sure. But we didn't have it for Christmas Day. In fact, it was quite warm. The sun was out and we opened up the doors and windows. No snow of course.
But we did have a good day. We actually slept in a bit after our Christmas Eve partying.

Whilst The Fuzz was mixing up the eggnog, there was a Jenga tournament going on. Here's a shot of the Jenga Tower, Electrified! This would have been a great Mystery Pix, but we'll just leave it here.
After the eggnog and cookies, and maybe just a little rum, we were getting ready to hang it up when the 2nd party arrived. So we got the goods back out and did it again. Santa still hadn't got by here when we went to bed though.
We weren't in a big hurry to get up, but fortunately the young'uns have been trained well and that was OK. We had coffee and our traditional Cinnamon Rolls that The Fuzz's Sweetie makes so well, and then opened the gifts.
As I mentioned, the weather was quite warm and here is a shot of the open kitchen window in Holiday Trim.

Christmas Tree '08

Here it is! Our *Christmas Tree for 2008. The Fuzz used to insist that it not go up 'till Christmas Eve. But he finally caved into the pressure. Especially when His Sweetie got in on it. But, It's all good, as they say. And today is Christmas Eve, so it's OK now.
We'll have some of the Family here, most of the rest later.

Ah, that Mystery Pix. Well, it was tricky. All it is is a close up of some sort of fungus on this exposed root out in the yard. I think the wet weather had something to do with it. It's nice that everyone was so honest and nobody cheated.

*It seems that this Christmas Tree is too big to fit on this blog. This is an illusion caused by The Fuzz's technical ineptness. He will try to do better in the future.

Bad Kitty

Bad Kitty
Bad, Bad Kitty.

This is a Bad Kitty.
This Kitty used to be welcome in the house.
But this Bad Kitty decided that pooping in the Cat Box was too much trouble.
When The Fuzz had to crawl around under the couch looking for Kitty Poopie he was not happy.
But this Bad Kitty runs into the house when the door is opened.
The Fuzz then catches this Bad Kitty and throws the Bad Kitty outside.
Here you can see the Bad Kitty attempting to Bite The Fuzz.
This would be a bad idea, resulting in serious injury to the Bad Kitty.
But fortunately, this Bad Kitty was not successful in the attempt and was able to continue it's new life as an Outside Cat.

Christmas Prep

We went out and met the Electrician at the Trailer. He needed to see just what was what. We'll need Professional Help here so we can get everything satisfactory for the County Guy.
After we talked to him (a nice enough fellow), it seemed like a good idea to throw a little Firewood on the truck to take back to town.
Tomorrow we plan to start with the Christmas Decorating. Since we were out here in the woods, The Fuzz suggested we grab some Holly, for hall decking. We found this Bough of Holly across the creek and it seemed like just the thing.

A Pre-Dawn Departure

Here's a shot of the Sunrise, looking across the road from the front yard.
Even if the sky had been clear this morning, The Fuzz would have missed this view, since he was on the road way before dawn. He hit the road early to bring home that Scholarly Son for the Holidays. We are happy to report that he (Scholarly Son) is doing well out there in that Big City.
The Fuzz's Sweetie recommended an early start for the avoidance of nasty traffic. As usual, her advice was excellent, and except for a bit passing though the Other Big City, he had the roads pretty much to himself. I'm not saying he broke any laws, but he did seem to be just a bit ahead of schedule.
Tomorrow, it is back to work. This week is "the lull before the storm" as it were. Next week we only work 3 days, but of course all the work still must be done. Then after that, another "short" week, with super garbage. The Fuzz has been doing this stuff for going on 30 years now. He used to let it get to him, thinking of all that extra Christmas Trash. But eventually he realized the best thing was just to forget about it all, and enjoy life and all these Good Holidays. As the Good Book says, "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof".

She Might Be Cold

It was a Frosty morning.
Is much Frost on Truck.
Dancer is not from around here.
I think she must be cold.

Dancer came from that Tropical Paradise.
She is not dressed for this weather.
But heater in truck works fine.
She will be OK.

About that Mystery Pix, this actually was an unsuccessful attempt at shooting though one of those "peepholes" in a door. Sometimes The Fuzz gets a little bored. Since the pix was useless as it was, he decided to play with it and this was what came out.

How Many..........

So, how many bloggers does it take to change a light bulb?
The Fuzz can do it by himself. But sometimes it can get complicated. Take this situation for instance. You will note that this light bulb seems somewhat damaged. We have had frequent trouble with these lights on our ceiling fan. This one kept going out, usually at an inconvenient time. The Fuzz had discovered that if he screwed around with the bulb, he could usually get it to work, at least temporarily. It must be admitted that if he can do this much, the problem is seldom actually fixed.
It had finally come to the place where no amount of "screwing around" would make things work. and the screwing around had a new feel to it. In fact when he tried to remove the bulb, all he got was the glass part. He was appreciative of the fact that the glass had not shattered in his hand embedding numerous glass shards in his fingers. But the remainder of this now useless bit of low-tech technology still needed to be removed.
Remembering our motto, "Safety First", he made sure the switch was off, and got out the needle nose pliers. This was no time for power tools. It was beginning to get dark, so haste was in order. Unfortunately, haste was not achieved, and the remains were removed bit by bit.
But in the process he discovered much corrosion there in the socket which was removed with a bit of sandpaper. And, with a brand new light bulb installed, everything is good- even better than before.

The Next Event

And now it was time to prepare fore the Next Event.

The Next Event was a Wedding Reception. Here you can see a Wedding Present being readied for this event. You are too late to see what this is, since it is already pretty much rapped. But take my word for it, it is a nice present, the sort of thing one might want for oneself. But this one made it to it's proper destination.

The reception was for a Nephew and New Wife.

We got lost on the way there and almost crashed someone else's Birthday Party. But things got straightened out before we turned over the Present. , so all was well. When we finally got to the right place, we found out it was quite a big deal.
Here is a rather blurry picture of what was going on there. This took place in a large heated tent. This tent was not like The Fuzz's tent that he sleeps in on camping trips. In the far back right hand corner you can make out the Bar. On the left, you may notice the Dance Floor. What appears to be carpet is actually the Bride's Father's front lawn. I don't know what kind of shape it was in the next day.
But we had fun and The Fuzz's Sweetie even managed to entice him out to the dance floor where they made a spectacle of themselves. But why else were we there, but to celebrate.

Big City Tradelot

During our excursion out into the wide world last week, we slipped into the State Capital. This was not for any "official business" or anything like that, but to hit the Big City Trade Lot.

Unfortunately, it was a rather cold and gloomy day.

But there was a lot of stuff there. We checked everything out and picked up a few items. One does have to be careful in these places though. Sometimes you can find the things cheaper in a regular store. The Fuzz picked up this Doggy Bottle Opener there. The guy had a whole trailer full of this stuff. The Fuzz thought it was cool and might come in handy since real beer usually comes out of a bottle.

But the weather was rather unpleasant and after meeting up with Schoolteacher Daughter, we soon cut a trail out of there to get ready for the Next Event.

Little Cannibal Critters

It was time to go out of town again. On this trip we spent some time at one of those Big Cities, this one the Home of a Famous University. Whenever we're there, Young Daughter and The Fuzz's Sweetie have to slip into town for some of these little critters.
The Fuzz tells me this has something to do with cannibalism, or something. He doesn't really understand it all, but as soon as they hit town, they were off in search of these Funfairs.

Cute Dog Picture

From time to time we post those "Cute Kitten Pictures" here.
Well so as not to be unfair to all the dog lovers out there in the cyberworld, it seemed to be time to get a "Cute Doggy Picture" up.
So here is the pooch- post bath.
The Little Bitch gets to smelling a bit stout sometimes, and the only thing that will help is a good bath. But in this weather it would be rather cruel to hang her out on the clothesline to dry. That's when the Blow Dryer comes out.
So here is a shot of Young Daughter Blow Drying the Little Bitch.
A "Cute Doggy Picture" for your enjoyment.
