Marching Band Competition, Cont.

The Fuzz isn't sure what was going on at the Big Blogger Place, wherever it is. There was some sort of thing up where they said they had to work on something or other. But whatever it was, it seems to be over.
So, back to the Band Pix.
Every band seems to have a Xylophone Section. But it is kinda hard for them to march around. And, this is a look at the Band that won the overall contest. It was a pretty good performance, even The Fuzz appreciated it.
The Fuzz apologizes for having to split this up and all. But on the plus side, we got two posts out of it.

Marching Band Competition

Here they come, marching in.The Fuzz's Sweetie really gets off on the annual band competition. But,it seems like every year, something would come up, and we couldn't make it over there for it.But, this year, we finally made it.
Here's some pix of some of the bands.

Well, there seems to be some sort of situation here on Blogger. The fuzz is unable to load up the couple more pix he had for this post. But rather than postponing it all, he decided to go with what we have here.
Happy Wednesday!

Mystery Pix 15.10

It was pretty much agreed that our previous Mystery Pix had something to do with a motor. But The Fuzz was hoping for a bit more exslpicit answer. So, let's just say it was the Distributor.

But anyway, here is a brand new
Mystery Pix
For all you Mystery Pix Fans.

Found! The American Strawberry-bush!

A few weeks back, whilst The Fuzz was getting ready to work on his current building project, he found this little botanical gem.
He had never seen the like, so went to get His Sweetie for a look.
Then, together, they got out our useful copy of "A Field Guide to Trees and Shrubs" from that well know, Peterson Field Guide Series. It seems that what we have here is an "American Strawberry-bush".Here's a couple more pix of this interesting little bush.Although we have to admit, that these are not pix of the whole bush, but only the little "strawberries".
One of the details that helped in the identification process, was the odd (to us) squared twigs. In the pix at the right, this may be more visible.
The Fuzz wondered why he hadn't seen many more of these things growing around here, but it seems deer are fond of them as munchies. I suppose that could explain this.

Progress Report

The Fuzz has not been idly sitting on his hands here. This project is still in the works. A couple weeks ago, he took the trailer into town on the way to work. Then, when he got off, he slipped by that infamous Home Improvement Store for some building supplies.
Then, he picked up that Young Daughter from the school house and headed back to the woods. On the left, you can have a look at some of the framing.
It went pretty well, although he had to break off for a bit due to a bit of precipitation.
But he was able to get back to it and get those floor joists in.
Unfortunately, he had miscalculated and came up short 3 of 'em. But he had go go back anyway for some floor plywood. While there, he grabbed the missing lumber, and with the aid of that not so Young Daughter, loaded up a bunch of stuff to carry back to the woods.
Here, you can see that young lady, hard at work, helping the old man out. They did get all that framing finished. But The Fuzz copped out and left the plywood for another day. So then, after work, he had a bit of time to work on it. And now the floor is down.Next will come some framing for the walls and roof. Maybe, we can get it finished by the winter.

Mystery Pix 10.10

Our last Mystery Pix did not seem to arouse much interest. So we thought we'd give it another shot. I should mention, the winner of that Noprize for the last one was Vi, who did guess a rope, even if it wasn't coiled.

So here we present our next exciting
Mystery Pix!

Intake Gasket at the No. 2 Cylinder

Things do have that tendency to tear up. This one had developed a serious tendency to loose coolant. The Mechanical Minded Daughter had determined it was escaping though a major rupture of the intake gasket at the No. 2 cylinder. This called for major surgery. The Fuzz went over to watch and harass her. His Sweetie and that Young Daughter went along also for a visit.
Above, is a look at this thing with the troublesome intake removed. You may note how roomy this engine compartment is. The Fuzz assures you this was not the case at the start of this operation.
To the right, is a look at the manifold itself. It has been carefully removed and set aside to be cleaned.
The Mechanical Minded Daughter took care of this whist That Lazy Fuzz stood around drinking cans of Blue Ribbon. Below, is an action shot of this mess being reassembled under the skilled hands of said daughter. The work continued into the night under the floodlights.
But that's the way it goes when you need to drive the thing in the morning.
Well,
that Mechanical Minded Daughter kept at it. We all held our breath as she finished up and the key was turned. The Fuzz is happy to report that the operation was a success, and we piled in, for a ride around the neighborhood. The evening was finished, with a toast (several) and a somewhat late, but very tasty dinner.

Another Neighbor

We were enjoying breakfast out in the yard a couple weeks ago when The Fuzz's Sweetie found this little feller.

She wanted to get a good pix of his little feets, but with only limited success. But The Fuzz thought he'd share this one with y'all.
Unfortunately, there is no sound track, or you could hear his protests.
And yes, for you Peta types out there, he was released unharmed*.

*No Frogs were injured in the making of this post.

We headed off to the Big City last weekend for some culture.

Check it out.
No, it's not a landscape from Pandora. Nor is it a true Mystery Pix. The fuzz promises to have more details in the future, but for now, enjoy.

Poor Thing

He finally slipped up.
This little guy had been a pest for too long. He seemed to be fond of going though the kitchen drawers every night. That would have been OK if he hadn't been leaving little presents for us.
The Fuzz's Sweetie finally figured out that he was enjoying the little doggy treats. They are what the little doggies do their little tricks for each morning.
The Fuzz thinks that this diminutive rodent was hoping to evade the our feline friends by somehow picking up a few canine traits. What ever his intent, it failed, as is evedent from these photos. Above is exhibit A, below exhibit B.
Poor Thing.

Bugs 10

Here's another one that came in for a visit.
