Big Tree

Well, it's been a while again.
So what's the Old Fuzz been up to?
Well, he & His Sweetie took a trip over toward the State Capital.  There are kinfolk in the area that were willing to put them up for a few days.
One of the days they went in to the Big City itself.

The Fuzz got a shot of this street artist by a parking lot.
And this is what she was trying to capture on paper.
This thing covered the whole side of the building, which was huge itself.
At first The Fuzz thought it was just a huge tree - impressive enough.  But then he backed off a bit and realized the thing was moving!
Maybe you can see it here better.
Wow.

Pumps & Plumbing Stuff

It may be remembered that earlier this year, there was a plumbing situation at the Old Place.  Well that Procrastinating Fuzz finally got around to addressing this situation.
The first step was to remove the old tank from beneath the pump.
(which The Fuzz was assuming still worked)
As can  be seen, it was in pretty bad shape.
This kinda left the pump hanging.
It was time to see just what he had here.
It will be noticed that the new tank is somewhat smaller than the old one.  The Fuzz is hoping that this won't cause any problems in the operation of things.
Of course it did mean that he would have to make some adjustments in the tank supports to compensate for this.
This was done by simply adding a few blocks and bricks to bring things up to the proper level.
That Lazy Fuzz was trying to use as much of the old plumbing as possible.
And so the drain valve and pressure relief valve was retained.
But He did have to add a bushing to compensate for the different thread size.
Then the old PCV pipe was cut back, and a new piece made to fit.
And everything glued up.
There was no problem priming the pump.  But when he cut it on, he found that the pump would cycle on and off much too rapidly!
So some adjustments were made to the pressure switch.
This seemed to help.
Hopefully this will work out OK.
Here's a look at the finished job.

Weather Changes

It looks like Fall is definitely on the way out here in the woods.
There has been a good bit of rain lately, and it is cooling off at night.
In fact it has been cool enough for a bit of a fire on a couple of mornings.
And morning fires need firewood.
The Fuzz has cut a little, and there is a wee bit left from last year.
But certainly not enough to make it through the winter.  So The Fuzz did make a survey of the grounds, and found a few candidates for the fire.
The thing is to locate and mark the dead or dying ones.  One can look up to the treetops and find the ones without leaves.  This has to be done before they fall, of course.
This one is definitely on the way out.  Actually, The Fuzz has had his eye on this one for a couple of years now.  It looks like this might be the year for it.
Once the tree is selected, it is marked.  This makes it easier to find once the rest of the leaves have fallen.
Of course the hard work is still ahead.

Mystery Pix Update

The Fuzz is a little disappointed.
There was only one Mystery Pix Guess!
What's the deal here?
Admittedly, it was not an easy one.
The Fuzz can get a bit tricky with those things.
But that's no excuse.

Well, it's time to come clean with it.

So here it is- the original.
Just a plug on a trailer.

And a Big Thanks to Woodie
for taking a stab at it.

And More Stuff...

The Fuzz's Sweetie is a big fan of gardening.  It hasn't always been easy out here in the woods.  New ground had to be broken up.  And the soil is not quite up to the standard of the Old Place, where it had been built up over 30 years.  And there are all the trees, and their shade.
Now shade is nice on a hot summer day, but not necessarily the best thing for a garden.
So The Fuzz's Sweetie had asked him to get out the chainsaw sometime and go to work on this.  And with cooler weather in the future there was a use for the wood.
So The Fuzz has been doing a bit of tree cutting.
There is still a bit more to cut, but this should open up things around the garden a little more.
And there are still plenty of trees left.

And Another Thing...

And...
there was a quick trip to the river.

Here's a rare pix of The Infamous Fuzz pulling his Kayakart* along the river trail.
Being the end of summer, and school about to start back, they had the place to themselves.
And one more rare pix of The Fuzz.
See, he did make it into the river after all.

*See the Kayakart Here!

What Else?

So...
What else has been going on lately?
Well,
Just those “little things of daily life” of course.
The Fuzz has been doing a bit of reorganization in his shop.
The original plans called for moving a chest freezer in there.  But it was decided to drop that idea, since it is fine where it is at the Old Place.
And so now, there is a bit more usable space for The Fuzz!
He moved this small workbench to another wall.  Now there will be room for a more substantial one for those bigger projects.  Of course he still has to build the thing.  And knowing Our Fuzz, that could take a while.
And he also added a window!  The plans call for 7 small windows in all.  This is only the first one.  And of course it still needs glass and all.  But he'll get to that... eventually.
But for now there is a bit more ventilation and light available.
Of course there is still a lot more to do here.  New shelving, more windows etc.

But that will all come in it's time.

Mystery Pix

How about a new Mystery Pix?

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden III

After all, this is about the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  Well we've seen the ZimSculpt, but where's the Botanical?
Well, The Fuzz does not want to leave the Botanical out.
So he presents a few Botanical Pix for your enjoyment.

Fountains are big at Stowe also.

And not to forget the trees
Next time we'll visit the Orchid house.
