This is an annual event for The Fuzz and His Sweetie.  Where else can those of us that live out here in the woods have such a great opportunity to see all these great flicks?

This is put on every year by the local Arts Council.

Cute Kitty Pix

We seem to have a bit of trouble maintaining our Kitty population out here. Some simply disappear, and some seem to acquire bullet holes.With that in mind, The Fuzz's Sweetie acquired this Momma Cat, and her 2 Kitties.
A while back, we watched the flick The Secret of Kells. (which we highly recommend*) In the flick there is a Kitty named, after that infamous Cat of Yore, Pangur Ban. Said Kitty is white, with different colored eyes. And so, meet our own Pangur Ban. And here is a Cute Kitty Pix of Pangur's sister, Cleo. (as in Cleopatra)

Real to Reel International Film Festival

Well, the 12th Annual Real to Reel International Film Festival is history. The Fuzz doesn't know just who the big winners are yet, but his own pick for the top place is, "Conned".

The Boston Underworld is teeming with crazy, eccentric characters in 'Conned' where Quentin Tarantino meets Guy Ritchie in an highly visual action-comedy that centers around the year's biggest horse race which appears to be rigged. Everyone is all over themselves to cash in on it, oblivious to the big con that is going to blindside them all.

The Fuzz really liked this one.
It's pretty nice having this Film Festival here in our area. But The Fuzz and His Sweetie are both amazed that more local people don't attend. They've made it an annual event.

Equipment Failure

It seems like there is always something.
One of the aggravations of The Fuzz's line of work is frequent Equipment Failure. These trucks are a bit complicated, so there is a lot that can go wrong. And they get worked pretty hard.
One of the more common problems is busted hydraulic hoses. Here you can see our mechanics hard at work to get The Fuzz back out on the route.
He didn't want to have to work late, because this is the week of the 12th Annual “Real to Reel International Film Festival"!
So don't be alarmed if not much is heard from The Fuzz for the next few days. But he promises, exciting things are coming.

Flick-Of-The-Week

The Fuzz can't re- member just how this thing got on our Netflix cue, but it was the Flick-Of-The-Week for us.

But it was pretty good. A little strange, but good. In fact, The Fuzz kept it an extra day, just so he could watch it again. But he does seem to like weird stuff sometimes. He liked City of the Lost Children too. But then,
The Fuzz has his weird side as well.

Winter & Middle Earth

The Fuzz realizes this will not impress any of y'all Yankees out there, but it was just a wee bit on the cool side this morning.
This is a look at The Fuzz's Brand New Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer.
But that's OK. The plan for today, is our Annual Movie Blowout. This started several years ago with the original Star Wars Trilogy. This Year we're going for the Lord of the Rings!
There does seem to be a chance of snow tonight. We'll just have to see how that turns out. It certainly is cold enough.
But for now, it's off to Middle Earth!

Cookies & Movies

With the Holidays approaching, it is time for...Cookies!

Here we have The Fuzz's Sweetie adding that decorative touch to this batch of Liebkuken.
With the Young Daughter off for an overnight visit, The Fuzz and His Sweetie were left to fend for themselves. They were hoping for a Netflix movie, but that didn't seem to work out.
But there were still COOKIES!
This is a "Before" pix. But I'm afraid the cool little design is a bit harder to see after the baking.
With Netflix not coming though for us, The Fuzz and His Sweetie were forced to fall back on their extensive video library for Lawrence of Arabia. And of course, we can't forget about those yummy COOKIES!

Weekend Stuff

It's been a quiet weekend around here.
Unless you count the sound of The Fuzz's little chainsaw.
With the weather turning colder these days, it was time to work up a bit of firewood.
He had already scouted out a few dead trees back before the leaves fell, and had marked them with a nice bright X. Now it was time to bring out that little green chainsaw. First he filled it with gas and oil. Then it was time to begin the "Pull-on". Surprisingly, things went well and he soon had several dead trees on the ground. Finally, it was time for a break by the fire and a cold Blue Ribbon.
After that, The Fuzz and His Sweetie planted some Prickly Pears out by the road, then stacked some of the wood.
For some reason, The Fuzz had gotten an urge to watch Brazil again.
So we put it on our Netflix que. It is a bit strange.

Cornmeal

One of the cool things at the Apple Festival was some of the old machinery. There was one off those old John Deere Pop-Pop motors that only hit a power stroke every now and again.

And there was this Cornmeal Mill.


It was pretty cool. They had the thing running, but there wasn't any corn in it.Here's a look at it running. Notice that Big Ass Flywheel. Most of these old things seem to have them. Below is a look at the end where the cornmeal is supposed to be coming out, but as you can see, there ain't none.We did enjoy the festival.
The weather here is still pretty warm. Some leaves are falling, but it still feels a lot like summer. At least it cools off at night.
We finally watched that Avatar flick. It was pretty good. Of course we didn't see it in 3-D. But we did like it. We'll watch it again before we send it back.

Movie Night

We've been enjoying some of the "Trailer Park Boys" shows from Netflix.But, The Fuzz would not recommend this to anyone who might have problems with that infamous "F"-word, as it is used occasionally. We're not even sure how this stuff got onto our queue, but sometimes you just get lucky.

Hot Times

Well, the 11th annual Real to Reel Film Festival is history. We went every night, and to the matinee on Saturday. We are pretty much flicked out at this point. But it was good. We did see some interesting stuff this year.
In a way, it was a good time to be sitting in an air conditioned theater. To the left, you will notice our spiffy Royal Crown Cola Thermometer. The Fuzz actually picked this up at work a few years ago. That was before the "automation" that pretty much results in a lot of cool stuff ending up in the landfill.
But the point is, that it has been HOT here as of late. Below is a closer look The Fuzz took just a bit ago.
As you will notice, the "Mercury" is a bit high. We did get a few things done this morning before this pix was made. The Fuzz is happy to announce, that we now have a Table Saw Free Living Room. Since that fine piece of precision equipment was no longer needed here in the woods, it was returned to the old place until a suitable home has been prepared for it out here.

Movie Stuff

It seems like the old Fuzz has been getting a bit slack here. I would make excuses for him, how he's been busy and all. But, I mean, not posting since the 6th?
The truth is he has been involved in another project, which we won't get into at this time.We did watch this flick last night, Renaissance. It was pretty good. It was done in an unusual style, as you can see from this pix The Fuzz ripped off.

This approach went well with the futuristic plot. It's worth watching and comes with The Fuzz's recommendation. How can you beat that?
We got it from that infamous Netflix.

Same Old..........

Not all that much going on around here. Well, it may be a bit misleading to say that. Actually, we are staying busy these days. But it's mostly the same old same old. We are waiting for something significant, but that's totally out of our hands. And so life goes on. It's been mostly just going to work in the morning, and then coming home. Getting up in the morning, and going to bed at night.
This weekend we watched "Pixar Short Films: Vol. 1" from Netflix. It was pretty good, fun to watch. But we also cut wood, went to town, dug up plants, went to the store and then replanted some of them. Now I'm trying to stay awake for this little post.
Since we like to get pix up on our posts, The Fuzz fixed up this one of some old rusted up equipment he saw down by a creek.
We still seem to be dealing with a bit of winter here. "They're" calling for more of that snow for Tuesday. The Fuzz says we'll see what happens then.

Last of the Film Fest

Well, the Real to Reel is over for this year. It was pretty good but we were pretty tired by the end. Here's some more of The Fuzz's picks.
For Friday, "Four of a Kind".
For Saturday matinee, "Leto".
And for Saturday night, "Lunatics, Lovers & Poets".

And so, it is back to work.
Here we have a long shot of The Fuzz working on the 2nd porch.
He started on this a while back, but lately has been spending his time watching Weird Flicks. Things are moving a bit slower than we had expected, but maybe we were being a little unrealistic about this. If we had simply hired profesionals for this, I supose it would already be done. And we would be deeply in debt. But we don't work like that around here. And so, we see that Fuzz still plugging away. But that's OK. It will be done when it's done. (a profound statement)

We'll get a pix of the finished porch eventually, probably when it's finished!

2nd Night, Film Fest

We've been going to the Real to Reel the last couple nights, and so haven't spent so much time working at the trailer.
But here is a shot of the Kitchen-in-progress, looking from the Master Suite, though a missing doorknob.

1st Night, Film Fest

Last night we attended the first night of the
10th
Annual Real to Reel
Film Festival.

You may wonder what that has to do with this pix of Cup of Coffee and Delicious Cinnamon Roll.
Well, since it was a late night, and since she had something she wanted to work on, The Fuzz's Sweetie made plans to get up early (like 4:30 AM) for this purpose.
This Delicious Home Made Cinnamon Roll and the cup of Freshly Ground Coffee, was the bait which lured The Fuzz from his snug little bed.
And this is why he is sitting here posting this at just such a time.
The Fuzz reports, that the flicks were pretty good. Each night, the audiance is asked to vote for their favorite flick. This was not easy. The Fuzz went with "The Crimson Mask", but Le Paradis De L'imbecile (A Fool's Paradise) was a really close second.

Daffy O Dills

This is that time of year when we are getting tired of all that grey.

So it's always nice to get a bit of Color!
And that's when the Daffodils come in,
Right on time.
And so for your enjoyment, The Fuzz presents this colorful collection of Daffy O Dills.

A short note here-
It may appear that The Fuzz has too much time on his hands. We assure you, this is not the case. He and His Sweetie have been quite busy these days, with just the complexities of ordinary life. Trying to stay warm, fed and working for a living can fill the days. Of course there are those moments of relaxation. We watched "The Bicycle Thief"from Netflix the other night. The Fuzz highly recommends it if you want to get bummed out and depressed.

Purse Party

The Fuzz doesn't do a lot of sewing himself, but he knows a lot of people that do. And since we've sorta been on that subject, and things have been a little slow around here with all the action down there in New Orleans, we present The Purse Party.

It seems The Girls are always looking for something to get into. So when it turned out that the Local Daughter had the Purse Book, they decided to get together and have A Purse Party, and make Purses of course.

You may well ask,"What does all this have to do with The Fuzz?" Well, with the Academical Son gone these days, all that's left is The Girls.
And besides that, they were going to have Food there, and Wine. Now The Fuzz could have stayed home and done something interesting, like maybe post something really exceptional here. But of course he didn't, So now y'all get to be part of this too.

The first thing they did was go off to the local "Rag Bag" for the appropriate materials. The Fuzz just stayed at the house and perused the extensive movie collection.
He started off with "Crazy as Hell". This is a very interesting flick, although there is one scene that is not exactly, "family values".


Whilst he was thus engaged, The Girls made it back and got to work. You can see some of the cutting and pinning here.


The Fuzz would slip in from time to time for that photo opportunity. That's how he caught them at this.This did look a little suspicious, but when he got a closer look, it was easier to follow the thread of events. And the work continued.

By now he was on "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". This one is just fun. After that one, Young Daughter came in for a break, and insisted on "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".

It was getting late. It was finally time for some food, and The Fuzz's Sweetie brought him a plate, and it was much appreciated. The Girls went back to work, and The Fuzz and Son in Law, to "Young Frankenstein".
By now it was quite late, and the machinery was giving off a Weird Glow.

It was a little before 2:00 AM when The Fuzz packed it in and caught a ride to home, and bed. But The Girls stayed at it a bit longer.

I'm sure you would like to see some of the results of all this effort. And so here, we present some of the finished work.


Now we just need a little bit of that "Dinero" for the inside.

Movie Stuff - Samurai Shakespeare !

Been using Netflix for a while now. It's a good way to see all kinds of stuff. The other night we watched "Rashomon" by Akira Kurosawa.

"Rashomon, directed by Akira Kurosawa was well ahead of it's time, not only because of it's stunning visuals but the experimental setting and story. Instead of a plot with a bad guy and his victims, the story digs deeper into human mind."

This is worth watching if you get the chance. One thing about Netflix is if you get something from them, and like it, they'll recommend other similar stuff "you might be interested in".

And so we got "Ran". This borrows heavily from Shakespeare's "King Lear" so of course, everyone dies in the end. But this is Samurai Shakespeare !
But hey, watch 'em if you get the chance.
