Mystery Pix- Not!

Still no success with our Mystery Pix. But it's not an easy one.
This is not really a Mystery Pix, I just think it's cool.
The Fuzz went out to the trailer for a bit after work. He hopes all is ready for the inspector now. We'll give him a call tomorrow and hope for the best. Maybe we can start staying out there soon.

New Mystery Pix!

Seemed like a long time since our last Mystery Pix*, too long.
And so, for all you Mystery Pix fans out there, we present this never before seen,
Mystery Pix.
The Fuzz wants you to know that he has been busy and hopes to soon have a photograph of our current project, that Brand New Porch. But for now, we'll all have to be satisfied with this exciting Mystery Pix.

*For those who may be unfamiliar with the Mystery Pix, this is your opportunity to exercise those brain cells and impress everyone with your mysterious powers of deduction, and general knowledge of the cosmos.

Last of the Film Fest

Well, the Real to Reel is over for this year. It was pretty good but we were pretty tired by the end. Here's some more of The Fuzz's picks.
For Friday, "Four of a Kind".
For Saturday matinee, "Leto".
And for Saturday night, "Lunatics, Lovers & Poets".
And so, it is back to work.
Here we have a long shot of The Fuzz working on the 2nd porch.
He started on this a while back, but lately has been spending his time watching Weird Flicks. Things are moving a bit slower than we had expected, but maybe we were being a little unrealistic about this. If we had simply hired profesionals for this, I supose it would already be done. And we would be deeply in debt. But we don't work like that around here. And so, we see that Fuzz still plugging away. But that's OK. It will be done when it's done. (a profound statement)
Here's a shot of the steps, from a window, which accounts for the weird angle. You can see that The Fuzz is screwing around with Power Tools again.
We'll get a pix of the finished porch eventually, probably when it's finished!

2nd Night, Film Fest

We've been going to the Real to Reel the last couple nights, and so haven't spent so much time working at the trailer.
But here is a shot of the Kitchen-in-progress, looking from the Master Suite, though a missing doorknob.

Just thought it was a Fun Pix.

The Fuzz's pick from last night is Jeopardy, with Interpretation running a close 2nd.

Midnight Special XIX

Good night, sweet prince.
(I must be loosing it)

1st Night, Film Fest

Last night we attended the first night of the
10th
Annual Real to Reel
Film Festival
.
You may wonder what that has to do with this pix of Cup of Coffee and Delicious Cinnamon Roll.
Well, since it was a late night, and since she had something she wanted to work on, The Fuzz's Sweetie made plans to get up early (like 4:30 AM) for this purpose.
This Delicious Home Made Cinnamon Roll and the cup of Freshly Ground Coffee, was the bait which lured The Fuzz from his snug little bed.
And this is why he is sitting here posting this at just such a time.
The Fuzz reports, that the flicks were pretty good. Each night, the audiance is asked to vote for their favorite flick. This was not easy. The Fuzz went with "The Crimson Mask", but Le Paradis De L'imbecile (A Fool's Paradise) was a really close second.

Midnight Special XVI

The point, being.........?

Still Working At It

While we were out at the trailer, The Fuzz wants you to know, he wasn't just chasing bugs around. To the right, you can see a hole he dug. In fact he dug 4 of these fine little holes. They are for the posts for the "porch"(necessary for county approval). Since these holes were for posts he used his Post Hole Digger for this job.
In this shot you can see a couple of these posts installed.
Here is a closer look where you can see how he has cleverly notched out this post to receive the frame of this spiffy new porch.
He had already assembled the frame for this inside the trailer. And yes, he did consider how to get the thing out. Since it is only a little thing, it will fit right out though the door.
In the future, we hope to have a much larger "porch", but for now we need it to be one of our "two means of egress".
Here's a look at this frame before it was moved outside into the Wide World. There won't really be much to it, just a place to step out onto, and some stairs to get down to the ground.

Cool Bug

Whilst we was out workin' at the trailer, we saw this Cool Bug.

Here's another look.
Bugs are weird.
Sometimes I just can't believe their colors and all.
This one's not real colorful, but still interesting.
And then there was this one.
It probably seems that The Fuzz was pretty bored here, but I assure you, this was not the case. We have been quite busy out there.
We do anticipate a break later this week when it will be time for the 2009, Real to Reel Film Festival*!
So if things seem just a bit slow around here, it's just that we're out there getting a bit of Cinamatical Culture.

Midnight Special VIII

Why not just go to bed?

Mountain Ride Cont....

And now, as promised, here's a look at the new observation tower up there on Mt. Mitchel.

The last time The Fuzz was up here, this was under construction, and they didn't want him up there.
This time he had better luck.
They've got it all fixed up now with even a paved "trail" up to the top.

Pretty fancy.

Here's a couple shots from the top.
You can see the parking lot down there.

And lastly, for your enjoyment, a view from the Parkway.

All in all, The Fuzz had a pretty good trip and didn't even get rained on.

Hard Hard Workers

Even though that Fuzz was riding around in the mountains, we haven't been neglecting our work on the trailer. One of the projects is replacing these nasty old heater registers.
Not only were they all beat-up but also full of nasty trash. Here you can see one of our Hard Hard Workers getting ready to open one up.
We are, of course, planing on using wood heat, but it would be good to have this for back-up. Regardless, this yucky stuff had to be cleaned up. Here's a cleaned out one with one of the Brand New Covers that we purchased from the Home Improvement Store.
While one Hard Hard Worker was working on this, another was using this stuff to ventilate the skirting. The Fuzz picked up an old window screen one the side of the road, and it was cut into pieces to fit the vent holes.
He had thought to use screen door molding to frame this, but it was almost $4 a pop. Then he remembered the Table Saw, and just got a cheap (sort of) 1x6 to rip down. Here's a look at one of the finished vents.
So things are moving along. We also purchased a quantity of lumber for building the remaining "porch" necessary for county approval.

Keep watching for pix of the New Tower on the Tip of Mt. Mitchel.

Mountain Ride

The Fuzz took his motorcycle up into the mountains this passed weekend. He was going to try to make it up to Mt Mitchel again. The last time he tried this, there was a complication and he never made it. This time things went a little better.

He followed the same route he had hoped to travel last time, but this time the Parkway was open. This is at the picnic place at Craggy Gardens (see map below*). You can see his motorcycle parked down there.
He had picked up a sandwich down at Asheville (and a cold one) and rode the Parkway to this picnic area for a little snack.
This is where this cheap little "Multi-Tool" came into the picture. The Fuzz's "Cold One" had been carefully wrapped up so it would, in fact, be a cold one. And it was. But he had not brought a bottle opener, assuming that this tool, habitually carried on the bike, would handle things.
We have found, over he years, though painful experience, that "bargain" tools often fail to deliver. And once again, this was the case. The Fuzz found that the bottle opener on this nifty little thing was useless for opening a bottle. It simply would not fit over the cap. But there was a happy ending to this. That ever resourceful Fuzz, was able to use the knife blade and pry the cap up enough to finally get a bite with that thing, thus averting disaster.
Later, we will reveal how The Fuzz finally made his way to his next destination. (Circled on the Map)

The Work Continues, Continued

And as promised, a pix of the Skirting.
This is pretty much finished, except we still need to add some vents. Hard workers need a break now and again, so The Fuzz's Sweetie cut this Watermelon. As we were enjoying it, this bit of Fuzz turned up. A bit of fuzz is not really anything extraordinary, but this one was walking around.
And here's another look.
As you can see, the little bugger is kinda small, one of those "Little things of daily life." In this 2nd shot, you can kinda make out his little feets there.
We did enjoy watching him for a bit. He may be small, but still one of those "Wonders of the world."

The Work Continues

Here's a look out of the "driveway" of our new place out there in the woods. I think it has been mentioned how it can get a bit muddy in wet weather.
That Industrious Son had been doing some remodeling at his place and had a bunch of rubble piled up. When he came out to help with the skirting, he brought a truck load. Here's a closer look.
This stuff worked out pretty well for firming up this area. It's no problem for the car, but the loose chunks of brick make things interesting for The Fuzz's Motorcycle. We expect that that will improve with time, though.
The work is progressing, although slower than we had hoped. But as they say, "Everything in it's time." The Fuzz is working on the finishing touches to the skirting along with a few things inside. His Sweetie and Young Daughter continue cleaning and painting. We'll get some more pix up soon.
