Bugged

Found these guys all over the well the other day.
I don't really know what they are though. I mean I know they're Bugs but I don't know their name. They are kinda pretty, for bugs, I mean.
They don't seem to Bite, which is good of course. Getting bit is no fun.
But there are a lot of them, at least on the well.
Here's some on the Bucket.
See what I mean about a Bunch of 'em.

Music, Literature, Cats and Pain

Well, it was a good thing how all that "Pianoforte" stuff worked out. It is a little known fact that that Macho Garbageman, The Fuzz, is a Jane Austen fan, which may explain the use of that archaic terminology.

But to move on from there, I thought we could start with another Cute Kitten Picture. These three seem to be rather fond of this crate and each other.

But there is more going on around here than cat stuff.

The Uninitiated may wonder what this mysterious apparatus in the hands of this sinister figure is. A close reading of the tee shirt may give a clue. Or perhaps the bit of exposed arm.

The Fuzz and His Sweetie were at it again supporting the local art community even at the cost of some pain to themselves. I suppose there are some who do not appreciate this form of art, perhaps considering it "vulgar". But that's their opinion, and not that of ourselves.

Here is a look of that mysterious device in action. The picture doesn't really give the full effect without the Buzz and the Pain.

The Fuzz's Sweetie is tough, she can take it pretty well. The Fuzz, on the other hand, has a tendency to pass out. I think his wanting to watch may have something to do with this. But there may be more to it, since both his sons have experienced a similar phenomenon.

Be that as it may, keep watching this blog for a look at the final results. And remember, if you start to feel "Light Headed", lay down, raise the feet and maybe have a cold drink.

And as always, you can find The Fuzz's Half Baked Economic ideas at http://fuzzypol.blogspot.com/. This Blog deals with reality.

Pianoforte Showtime

The time had come to see if this plan would lead to success or disaster. The Piano was there. The equipment was there. And the *People Power was there. We had combined this Piano Affair with a Birthday Visit for that Academic Son, currently residing nearby.

But the Moment of Truth had come. Here we can see The Fuzz rigging the strap to fasten the Main Block to that thing.

Here's a closer look at it. This thing was put together with some plywood scraps, bolts, pipe spacers and an old lawnmower wheel without the tire. It was left from a well digging incident that nearly killed The Fuzz. But that is another story.

The plywood ramp was laid down and tacked together. And then the Upstairs Crew assembled and slowly took up the slack in the rope.
Now the Downstairs Crew guided the Massive Musical Instrument to the ramp and raised this end to help it up onto the ramp.

The neighbors were beginning to gather in anticipation of some excitement. The Fuzz was hoping there would be none.

The whole affair was over in a matter of seconds. The ascent was swift and smooth. The thing made the transition from ramp to deck with no complications, much to everyone's relief.

All that remained was to roll it to the door, and into it's new home.

And here it is in it's new home. Now it was finally time for that Beer that had been wisely passed up earlier.

And of course, to test it.

The End.

*Remember, The Fuzz is that "Happily Married Father of 8"

Pianoforte Cont. The Plan

The first part of The Plan involved getting there.
That was the easy part. Now lets get a look at the rest of it. And yes, it did "involve rope, pulleys, and an inclined plane"

Simply carrying the thing up the stairs was considered. But not for long. Besides the stairs being too narrow, all the weight would be on the poor guys with the rear end of it. But just about anything can be done with the right approach.
Since the thing could be rolled easily with the dolly, The Fuzz decided to "roll" it up the stairs. A sheet of plywood was halved which would provide more than enough "ramp" to make it all the way to the top.
That is, could be rolled easily on level ground. Up this slope was another thing. The Fuzz had an old Block, made from a lawnmower wheel and scrap wood. This was left over from a previous Well Digging project, but was just the thing for this.
There was 100ft of rope available, more than enough to double though the block. And enough "Muscle" anticipated to handle things.
Tying it off on the railing was out of the question though, but The Fuzz figured it could be looped back below the deck and secured to the stairs themselves.
It seemed like a good plan, a workable plan. But
as my old Drill Sargent told me once, "Always expect the wost, and you'll never be disappointed". And if I am not mistaken, there is something written somewhere about the "Plans of Mice and Men". Even a good plan is only a plan. But would it work ?

To be continued..........

A Pianoforte Foray

Did I mention we had a busy weekend planed? Let me explain.
Here we have a Piano.
Nice, isn't it. But the thing is, it needs to be someplace else. Like at the home of the Daughter in the Big City that is the Home of a Famous University.
This required a move of 160-170 miles.

So The Fuzz went to work on it.

He thought about loading it onto his truck, but it would have been exposed to the weather. This would not be the best option. And while it would fit in the truck bed, getting it up there would not be easy. And so, let me present for your information and enjoyment, The RENT-A-TRAILER. Note how he has constructed a ramp with Plywood, 4x4s and various scrap stuff that was laying around. (A Fuzzy Techno-Tip: never throw away lumber scraps)
A Piano Dolly was borrowed from a friend to help things along. Some Muscle was borrowed from Local Daughter and Son in Law.

Here we can see them using all that Muscle to move this Instrument into the RENT-A-TRAILER whilst Young Daughter helps by staying safely out of the way.

This operation went quite smoothly, and shortly, Fuzz, Sweetie and Young Daughter were headed up the road.

But of course there was a complication involved in all this. Here is where this thing had to go. But The Fuzz had a plan, which will be revealed in a Future Post. So keep watching. To be Continued...............

We're still here

The Fuzz has been kinda busy this week. His Sweetie and he have been going though their Extensive Library, trying to pare things down a little in anticipation of their hoped for move. But alas, there is sill nothing to move into.
But he did want me to let you know that he hasn't forgotten all his loyal readers. And so, we present here, this picture of a slightly wilted Zinnia, with this little feller hanging out in it. Just to let y'all know we are still here.
Well, we have to go now, there's another busy weekend in the works. Hope to get back to y'all soon.

Super Fly

Look! Up in the Sky! It's a Bird! It's a Plane!....

Well... come to think of it, it is a Plane. Of sorts. A Sorta Plane.
As the Fuzzy Family were enjoying their Picnic at the River, they heard a loud noise in the sky. But it was hard to see the sky though the trees. Then, as it passed over the River, The Fuzz finally got a look. It was one of those "Ultra-Light" things they fly around in. Well, not really "in", but they do fly them.
The Fuzz tried to get a good shot of it, but this is the best he could do. It is a bit "Fuzzy" though. I suppose, in a way, it's the "Moped of the Sky". Sometimes I think it would be fun to go up in one of those things, but then I come to myself. I already have enough ways to hurt myself.

A Little Green Chainsaw

You remember all the Trouble The Fuzz had with his Little Green Chainsaw.
You may also remember his questioning whether to replace it. Well, he did decide to do just that. This is a Brand New 14" Chainsaw, purchased from Sears, Roebuck and Company. You may wonder why he did this rather then making a quick trip to Wally World (where he got the original). This was because we had recently seen "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price". The Fuzz was not a big fan of the Wally World to start with and this flick didn't help.
So, now refusing to go there, he checked out a few other places around town with out much success. Oh they had chainsaws, but not exactly what he was looking for. His Sweetie mentioned Sears, Roebuck and Company. He hadn't made it over there yet, but he checked it out on-line. And there, in Bright Green, was just what he wanted. And the price was reasonable. They have a deal going where one can "Buy" it on-line and go to the store and pick it up if they have one there. And they did! They had one there! So now The Fuzz has a Brand New Little Green Chainsaw to replace the one so cruelly crushed by that tree. He tested it out on this limb that had fallen in the yard, and as you can see, it did an excellent job.

At the River

After such an episode with tree cutting, when The Fuzz's Sweetie proposed a picnic at the river, we were all glad to go. Even though the weather was nice, there are not many folks there this time of year. In the heat of the summer, the place is mobbed making it difficult to find a place with a grill. For some reason they don't want you to bring your own anymore. So we loaded the Cart with our Cooler and some Charcoal, and headed up the river looking for a good place.
There was no "Official" Grill at our fist choice, but we did get a good one since we had the place to ourselves. First we all had a cooling swim in the river. The water was remarkably clear, and the temperature was just right. After a bit, The Fuzz lit up the fire and cooked a few burgers. His Sweetie had fixed some Potato Salad so we were in business.
But as the days are growing shorter, it wasn't long before the sun began to sink into the west, and it was soon time to head for home. Soon it will be getting cold again and it was nice to have a last swim of the season and enjoy the Beautiful River.

Trouble in the Woods

It was not a good day out there in the Woods.
This is The Fuzz's Chainsaw. You may notice that the "Handle" on this thing just doesn't look right. That's because it isn't right. A close look by the arrow will reveal why it doesn't look right. The other side [not visible under the saw] is in a similar condition.
To the right, you will note more damage. The guide bar seems to have lost direction here. Indeed, it was not a good day out there.

The Fuzz and His Sweetie were once again clearing trees in anticipation of the hoped for move. This time along the future driveway. We have previously seen how skillfully The Fuzz handles this. Unfortunately, this time he was less successful in his endeavors.

As he was cutting away, he saw that things might not go the way he had hoped. But having traveled light this day, without all his extensive equipment, he foolishly decided to press ahead. This was when the trouble stated. The result was that his saw became trapped in the tree. But he was not worried, since having another saw, he could finish the cut, thus felling the tree, and freeing said saw. And this was exactly what he did. Unfortunately, as the tree began to fall, it momentarily hung up in the branches of one of it's neighbors. When it let go, the butt hopped off of the stump and landed squarely on top of The Fuzz's Little Green Chainsaw. And this was the result.

Now the question remains, does he try to find, and replace the damaged parts, or just replace the saw? There were already some issues with the carburetor. But that little sucker could flat-out cut some wood! And besides that he has 2 new chains for it. But if he could find a new saw that could use those same chains...........

See The Fuzz tackle the important issues of the day!

Wednesday of Doom

It's about time for a Cute Kitten Picture again, so here we go.

But what we're really dealing with here, is The End of the World. (On Wednesday)
It seems that this Welsh Physicist is planning to test fire his new Particle Accelerator and some other Scientists think he may do us all in. It seems that he liked to blow stuff up when he was a kid.

"I had a number of chemistry sets. Like everybody, I used to make explosives. I even blew the fuses of the whole house a few times."

The Fuzz says he's not so sure about all this, but he does remember "Ice 9" I suppose it's gonna happen sooner or latter. But just so you know, here's what we may be in for.

"...the spinning-top-like quasar devoured the world from within, the two jets emanating from it would grow and catastrophes such as earthquakes and tsunamis would occur at the points they emerged from the Earth.

‘The weather will change completely, wiping out life, and very soon the whole planet will be eaten in a magnificent scenario..."

Apparently, this Global Warming stuff ain't squat, so The Fuzz says y'all better get ready for the Real Thing.

A Post Labor Day Post

It's a nice thing to have a day off work. Even better a 3 Day Weekend. But in The Fuzz's line of work, you pay for it when you go back.
Life goes on, and so does the Garbage.

Once back on the job, it was necessary to work 2 day's routes in 1 day. This requires a real scramble, rush rush rush, and don't even think about a break. The crews had to work over a bit, but they made it finally.

The Fuzz started the next day with a half a load already on the truck, and no air pressure. Fortunately, our Ace Mechanics got things straightened out pretty quickly. One of the other trucks was not so fortunate. And so once again one of the
faithful old trucks was taken out of retirement. These older trucks are a little slower and require a 2 man crew on the back to dump the cans. So as each truck finishes it's own route, they converge on what's left. So it was another long day for The Fuzz and His Friends. Then as the Weary Workers were heading home, one of those poor over worked fellows accidentally tried to kill The Fuzz by backing a pick up truck over him and his motorcycle. By the Grace of God, he was spared, with only some minor damage to his front fender. So far it's been quite a week, and I hope you will forgive me for not keeping up with everything.

You may wonder what all this has to do with a pile of firewood. Nothing. But these nice people cut down a dead pine tree, rented a splitter, and neatly stacked it all out on the curb in the hope that someone would take it away. The Fuzz was glade to oblige. Some folks are too stuck up to burn pine wood. The Fuzz has always found it to burn fine, and cold weather is coming for sure.

And don't forget about The Fuzz's Inflammatory Election Year Politics!

Purse Party

The Fuzz doesn't do a lot of sewing himself, but he knows a lot of people that do. And since we've sorta been on that subject, and things have been a little slow around here with all the action down there in New Orleans, we present The Purse Party.

It seems The Girls are always looking for something to get into. So when it turned out that the Local Daughter had the Purse Book, they decided to get together and have A Purse Party, and make Purses of course.

You may well ask,"What does all this have to do with The Fuzz?" Well, with the Academical Son gone these days, all that's left is The Girls.
And besides that, they were going to have Food there, and Wine. Now The Fuzz could have stayed home and done something interesting, like maybe post something really exceptional here. But of course he didn't, So now y'all get to be part of this too.

The first thing they did was go off to the local "Rag Bag" for the appropriate materials. The Fuzz just stayed at the house and perused the extensive movie collection.
He started off with "Crazy as Hell". This is a very interesting flick, although there is one scene that is not exactly, "family values".

Whilst he was thus engaged, The Girls made it back and got to work. You can see some of the cutting and pinning here.

The Fuzz would slip in from time to time for that photo opportunity. That's how he caught them at this.
This did look a little suspicious, but when he got a closer look, it was easier to follow the thread of events. And the work continued.

By now he was on "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". This one is just fun. After that one, Young Daughter came in for a break, and insisted on "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".

It was getting late. It was finally time for some food, and The Fuzz's Sweetie brought him a plate, and it was much appreciated. The Girls went back to work, and The Fuzz and Son in Law, to "Young Frankenstein".
By now it was quite late, and the machinery was giving off a Weird Glow.

It was a little before 2:00 AM when The Fuzz packed it in and caught a ride to home, and bed. But The Girls stayed at it a bit longer.

I'm sure you would like to see some of the results of all this effort. And so here, we present some of the finished work.

Now we just need a little bit of that "Dinero" for the inside.
