What's New

Here it is, a brand new Garbage Truck!
Regular readers of this blog are no doubt familiar with The Fuzz's chosen profession*. They may also realize that this complicated equipment does not last forever. So here is a look at the newest addition to the fleet.
The Fuzz got to try this puppy out the other day. Other than a slight complication at the dump, things worked out fine.

*Here's a closer look at the process, 1, 2.

Here's a bit of Fuzzy Thinking for ya.
(The Fuzz does prefer not
to contaminate this blog with this sort of stuff.)

Sad Situation

Here we see a sad situation.
We did have a bit of rain here. Our Patio Tarps had been getting a bit saggy lately. The ropes had deteriorated a good bit from the sun. The extra weight of the rain water was just too much.
Our Fuzz tried to tie this mess back up, but it was a lost cause.
But not to worry. The Fuzz has plans to replace these pitiful pieces of rope with steel cables!

Under Cover At Last

This is not a grave or any such thing. What it is, is the place Our Fuzz used to park his Motorcycle. It certainly had it's drawbacks. It was totaly in the weather (not a good thing for a bike) and sorta in the yard too.
But the new shed has progressed to the point where the bike can now be under cover*.
Today was a bit rainy around here, but The Fuzz was able to move the bricks for the bike. Now he has a mighty fine parking place. It's out of the way, and out of the rain!

The Current Status

The Fuzz apologizes for delaying this post so long.
Here is a look at the current status of our Shed Project.
The Fuzz has most of the walls up now. But this was not easy, working by himself. Here is a look at a technique he used to raise and hold the plywood panels in place.
Our Resourceful Fuzz used a lever arraignment. (A&B at right) Using this, he was able to hold the panels, by standing on the lever (A) while getting a couple of nails in, to hold things together.
And so things actually are progressing here, if slowly. The Fuzz was now able to move his motorcycle into the "carport" area. This will eliminate the need to tarp it up every night.
This is a shot of things in the morning, before leaving for work.

Big Number Two

Over the weekend, The Fuzz and Clan gathered to celebrate a Birthday!
The Birthday Girl is quite a fan of this Well Known Flik, so this Special Cake was prepared.
There was quite a crowd for this important event.
Here's another look at this tasty treat, ready to meet it's destiny.
And of course, no Birthday Party would be complete without Presents!
And here's how they stacked up.
But besides Cake and presents, we did have the cookout as well.
It was a little cool, but the sun was out to warm things up a bit.
So again, Happy Birthday to the Birthday Girl!

The Tide Is Turning

Is this for real?

"Law enforcement officials across the country are puzzled over a crime wave targeting an unlikely item: Tide laundry detergent."

The Fuzz saw this* during his daily perusal of the latest news. He does like to keep informed of these sort of important trends. It does seem just a bit weird though.

"Theft of Tide detergent has become so rampant that authorities from New York to Oregon are keeping tabs on the soap spree, and some cities are setting up special task forces to stop it."

"One Tide taker in West St. Paul, Minn., made off with $25,000 in the product over 15 months before he was busted last year... Tide has become a form of currency on the streets... Enterprising laundry soap peddlers even resell bottles to stores."

The Fuzz wonders if it was a Clean Getaway!

Mystery Project

Well, since that Canuck* Got our Mystery Pix right off, there's no reason to put this post off any longer.
In a previous post, The Fuzz mentioned his current project, Window screens.
He and His Sweetie had already ripped down some 1x4's to a more appropriate size for this.
The next thing was for them to be cut to length.

Not wishing to get involved in any mysterious and complicated joinery, Our Fuzz had decided to simply nail these suckers together. Since he was working with such small pieces of not so high quality wood, he pre-drilled the holes for the nails.
With the frame together, it was time for the actual screen wire.
The Fuzz's Sweetie had salvaged the screen wire from last year, when it had been hastily stapled over the windows.
The Fuzz broke out his shears, and Trusty Heavy Duty Staple Gun.
The wire was cut to size, leaving enough along each edge to fold a bit under, for a stronger screen. (One never knows when a destructive beast may attempt to climb these things!)
You will note, that each corner was carefully mitered to facilitate this.
Finally all was stapled down.
Mounting the screens was a simple matter of fashioning a couple of latches from some of the scrap.
The Fuzz realizes that this is not a high security arrangement. But as the original screens simply popped out, from the outside, themselves, this does not seem to be any great change.
We have high hopes that this will reduce our pest problem. With warmer weather coming on, we will want plenty of fresh air.
