Counting Down to Eight

Only
Workdays
to
go!

And in other news, the cat had kittens.  There are only 2, but she has also adopted that other orphaned one.  So we have Kittens now.  The Fuzz promises to get pix up soon.

9 Left

Not a lot going on around here today.
But the Countdown continues.
Nine workdays left for The Fuzz now.
We did get a bit of rain here.

This might be in poor taste, but The Fuzz is a bit hard up for material these days.
So, here goes.
On a recent trip, The Fuzz found it necessary to make use of the facilities.

He thought this was an odd place for a safe.
All he can figure, is that they must be having trouble with lowlife steeling the TP!

Ten

Yes, this is true.
Only 10 more workdays for The Fuzz.
And after having to catch up from Memorial Day, he's ready for some time off.
But is it "Time Off" if one is not going back?

Coffee and More

Since The Fuzz's department has gone to 10 hour work days, he usually has Friday off.  This gives him and His Sweetie an opportunity, for "Fun Stuff".
This week they headed up to the City.
Their first stop was a coffee shop they previously seen.  But, The Fuzz was off of coffee for a month, so it had to wait. Well, the month was finally over, and it was Coffee Time.

Here's a couple Pix.

The Fuzz and His Sweetie had a bit of coffee, and worked a bit on their Sketching and Writing, as is their habit.  Their next stop was the fabric store.  No fabric was purchased, but they found a couple of small journal-sketchbooks on sale.
Then, they hit the Bead Store, to pick up  an item The Fuzz had ordered a couple of weeks ago.  The Last stop was the Wine Shop.

They enjoyed a couple of glasses out at a table under the umbrella.
Then it was time to head back to the Woods.

Summer Time In Sight

Well, this is Memorial Day Weekend, and it's time to think of Summer Things.
And Summer Things include the Beach!

But for now, there is still work & school.
But it won't be long now.

Rescued!

The latest addition
It's just a little thing.  Young Daughter brought her (?) home from the schoolhouse the other day.  It seems that some sadistic students, had run mamma off, and were preparing to do in the little ones.  But she and a few others, managed to pull off a rescue.
 Cute thing, ain't it.

Wildflowers in The Wheat

The other day, whilst Our Fuzz and His Sweetie were out "Taking the Air" as they say, he was struck by this view of the Wildflowers in a Wheat Field.

And so that became our latest Mystery Pix.
Not so mysterious after all, was it.

The Story

So what's the story here?

The rumors are indeed true.
After over 33 years, The Fuzz is about to give up the Garbage Business!
The way he's got it figured, he has a total of 15 actual Work Days left, God willing.
It's been an interesting time.  He started out "Pulling Garbage" years ago.  Now he is  an "Equipment Operator" with one of these marvels of engineering and automation.
Well, it's time to turn it over to the Young'uns.
The Fuzz and His Sweetie are heading into new territory here.
But first, there's those 15 more days.

Exploring

The other day, The Fuzz and His Sweetie took a walk down the road to take the air.  And of course walking is exercise too, right?
They had a good time, and even found a potential Picnic Spot and Swimming Hole.
This little guy was down there growing with some friends.
The Fuzz is hoping to have a bit more time in the future for these things.
The Countdown has begun.

Fun at Home

Once The Fuzz and His Sweetie returned to their Home in the Woods, it was time for
The Fun!
Here's a look at some Earrings in progress.
Of course The Fuzz was not to be outdone.  Whilst at the Bead Store, he found this cool rock.
It was just the thing to make this Necklace.

(It is also the subject of our latest Mystery Pix!)
All in all, it was a Fun Day.

More Adventure

On their way to a (relatively) near city for one of their Friday Outings, The Fuzz and His Sweetie saw these guys.  It was too much to resist, so they stopped for some pix.
Perhaps it was the excitement.
Or perhaps they just didn't appreciate the invasion of their privacy.
But they could just be a couple of hams.
But, as you can see, they got their lazy selves  up to pose for The Fuzz.

Once in the city, The  Fuzz and His Sweetie's first stop was the Bead Store.  The Fuzz realized that this was a dangerous move.  But in keeping with his new determination to be "adventurous", he took the plunge.  We'll have more on this later.
But by now it was time for some eats.
So they slipped into this Local Pub for a sandwich and
Beer!
There was time for one more stop.
This was at the "Crushed Olive" store.

Like the place we had visited at Christmas time, here they sell fancy Olive Oils and that tasty Balsamic Vinegar.
Finally it was time to head back to Our Home in the Woods for a bit of relaxation.

The Story Behind It

Toward the end of last year, The Fuzz heard the sound of machinery in the woods across the creek.
When he checked it out he found this.
This part of the woods had been logged off.
Now the speculation began. Why did they do this? Was it just for the money? Or was there something more sinister going on.

Of course there were rumors.
Chicken "Farming" is big business these days.  So here is the sad reality behind our latest Mystery Pix.
Those things were some of the huge fans used to keep these poor things from suffocating.

And here's a look at the New View from the same approximate location as above.
Fortunately for The Fuzz and His Sweetie, This operation is downwind.

How about now?

End of the Stick Shift?

Whist checking out what's going on in the world out side our Home in the Woods, The Fuzz came upon this.

End of the manual transmission?

This is disturbing.
The Fuzz has often thought that one that can't drive a stick, can't really drive! But here's what they're saying. (From
The Detroit News)

"...like the powerful V-8, the stick shift — or manual transmission, common to beloved muscle cars and older vehicles — is fading into the annals of automotive history..."

"...Sales of vehicles with manual transmissions have hovered around 4 percent the past two years..."

But take heart. There are still a few of us left.

"People who drive a stick demand to participate in the driving and control the car's movement to the absolute greatest degree possible..."

"...With a stick shift, the car "becomes less an appliance and more an experience..."

Of course, the shameful truth is, that even Our Fuzz, drives an automatic at work. But of course no one pretends that that is for fun.

Let's just hope this doesn't happen to Motorcycles!

A Bit More Progress

It's about time for another progress report on one of The Fuzz's projects.
The Fuzz is sure that by now most of his loyal readers have figured out the (not so mysterious) Mystery Pix.
It seems that when the tin was laid down on the roof of this shed, the ridge piece was left for a more opportune time. The problem with this, other than a nasty leak, was that the scaffolding required for access to the roof, prevented any work being done on the wall below.
Our Fuzz had not been looking forward to this part of the job. The tin is slick, and the ground below is hard. But things had come to the point were there was no excuse left (other than cowardice) for not finishing the job.
The Ever Cautious Fuzz tied a rope to himself, while His Sweetie wrapped the other end around a tree. The plan was that if The Fuzz began to slide off of the roof, he would make every effort to fall on the side opposite said rope. Then the rope would prevent a painful fall to the ground, and the resulting injuries. We are pleased to report that the operation was a success, and The Fuzz is looking forward to the next phase of the project, finishing the walls. After that, he will be able to install some doors. Once he has walls and doors, he should be able to move some of the tools out here to our Home in the Woods. That would be nice.
