Found! The American Strawberry-bush!

A few weeks back, whilst The Fuzz was getting ready to work on his current building project, he found this little botanical gem.
He had never seen the like, so went to get His Sweetie for a look.
Then, together, they got out our useful copy of "A Field Guide to Trees and Shrubs" from that well know, Peterson Field Guide Series. It seems that what we have here is an "American Strawberry-bush".Here's a couple more pix of this interesting little bush.Although we have to admit, that these are not pix of the whole bush, but only the little "strawberries".
One of the details that helped in the identification process, was the odd (to us) squared twigs. In the pix at the right, this may be more visible.
The Fuzz wondered why he hadn't seen many more of these things growing around here, but it seems deer are fond of them as munchies. I suppose that could explain this.
