Contruction Continued

So, what are we actually looking at here?
Well, it is a part of the construction process. There have been a number of design changes since this project began.
One change was to raise the roof a bit. The Fuzz realized he could get a bit more storage space as a "Loft". The original plan had called for a very low pitched roof, to simplify construction, and save on materials. But we won't go into all that right now.
Since The Fuzz is not using trusses (to allow more open space) The ridge must be supported some other way.
And it is still necessary to span an 8ft section of the work area. And so Our Fuzz fashioned this mysterious piece to support a 2x8* across this area. It also had to tie in to the rafters, hence the angles.
The assembly of this intricate piece was accomplished with no complications. Putting it up there was another matter. The Fuzz spent more time getting the ladders, walk boards and all that stuff together, than making it.So here's a look at how things are shaping up so far. The Fuzz promises to keep all his loyal readers posted on the progress of this important project. With any luck, he may get a few more pieces together this week.

*For some mysterious reason, a 2x8 is more like a 1½ x 7¼ these days!
