A while back, The Fuzz and His Sweetie were making a family visit in Concord.  Having heard that the Havana Carolina CafĂ© was back up and running, they decided to check it out.
The Havana was one of The Fuzz and His Sweeties favorites.  But it had been closed down after a fire.  They have moved to a new location.  It is a bit more upscale.
Here's a look at the fancy coffee they had.
The girls got flowers, and the guys got palm trees. And the coffee was as good as ever.
The Fuzz recommends this place to anyone who happens to find themselves in Concord.

Carport Project II

"But..."
As a preacher once said,
"A lot can come out of one 'but'."
But to get back to the situation-
The carport was filled with gravel, yet there was a rather large pile of the crushed rocks in front of it.
This would make it a bit difficult to actually use the thing.
This, however was not a mistake.
But it did mean there was more work in store for Our Fuzz and His Sweetie.
Phase 1 was to spread gravel in front of the carport in an area that tended to be a bit slippery in wet weather.
Then it was on to phase 2.
Gravel was spread up the drive in the tire tracks.
This will also help out this winter.
Here's a look at the automobile in it's cozy new berth.
And a overall look at the completed project.

Carport Project I

You may remember our Carport Project.
And it has been a project!
Well, here's a look at 10 tons of gravel.

The original plan called for possibly paving it with bricks.  But this looked to be a bit expensive.
Along with the mud, there was a Cat Poop Problem*.
This guy likes the pile, but probably won't be scratching a poop hole if he values his claws.
Of course the gravel couldn't simply be dumped into the carport.
So The Fuzz had to move it.  He used the Old School method.
It took a while of course, But eventually-
the carport was nice and level- and gravelly!
But...

Roadside Attractions

While traveling along some back roads recently, The Fuzz and HIs Sweetie came upon this Mailbox Sculpture.
He thought it was worth sharing.
The detail is impressive.

End of His Battle

Well a lot has happened since The Fuzz has been here.
His Brother did finally pass.  He fought it to the end, but the ALS won.
He died at home with his family around him.
The Fuzz was glad he could be there for him when he could.

Returning The Nutrients

The Fuzz saw this on NPR.
Thought it was worth passing on.

Should We Return The Nutrients In Our Pee Back To The Farm?

"A small group of environmentalists in Vermont... ...Instead of flushing their pee down the drain, they're collecting it with special toilets that separate No. 1 and No. 2."

"Then they're pooling the urine... and eventually giving it to a farmer, who's putting it on her hay fields in place of synthetic fertilizer."

"...it's foolish and wasteful to part with the precious nitrogen and phosphorus that moves from the food we eat right through us — especially when farmers have to buy fertilizer at great expense to put those very same nutrients back into the soil."

Makes sense to The Fuzz.
