More Digging

Spring is on the way.
So it's time to get started on a spring garden. When The Fuzz got home, His Sweetie put him to work with the tiller. That stuff out there in the middle is some leeks that overwintered. She's hoping to get some Snow Peas in, maybe tomorrow. The Red Maples have already been blooming. And here are some buds on our Nectarine Tree.
We do realize that it's not springtime yet. In fact, there is a chance of snow this weekend. But it won't be long now, and we need to get ready.

Digging Some Dirt

A view, looking across our immense drain field.
All these modern conveniences come with a lot of work. When the Septic Tank Guys did all this, they graded a lot of the "yard". This has a good side in that now we'll have a place for a level lawn (if we can get grass to grow). This way we can get exercise mowing it.
Unfortunately, when they leveled this out, they used a lot of the dirt needed to fill the place where the pipe was exposed (necessary for inspection). And so The Fuzz had to come up with a way to fill this no longer desirable, hole. But since we had also had a well dug, there was this large pile of dirt from the deep. But it was in the wrong place. Here we see how The Fuzz handled this difficulty using this simple equipment.
The fill dirt doesn't exactly match, but he covered it with some of the red dirt he did have. The next big job will be the underpinning.

Daffy O Dills

This is that time of year when we are getting tired of all that grey.

So it's always nice to get a bit of Color!
And that's when the Daffodils come in,
Right on time.
And so for your enjoyment, The Fuzz presents this colorful collection of Daffy O Dills.

A short note here-
It may appear that The Fuzz has too much time on his hands. We assure you, this is not the case. He and His Sweetie have been quite busy these days, with just the complexities of ordinary life. Trying to stay warm, fed and working for a living can fill the days. Of course there are those moments of relaxation. We watched "The Bicycle Thief"from Netflix the other night. The Fuzz highly recommends it if you want to get bummed out and depressed.

Powered Up

Yes!
This is what it looks like.

We now have power. That's our new motto, "Power to the people!", the "people" in this case, being, us.
Admittedly, it is "temporary" power, but just as hot as the real stuff.
The Fuzz rode out Friday to check things out (and grab some firewood) and there he found this Brand New Electrical Meter. Now we can pay not one, but two power bills each month. That won't be all that much fun, but, now we can also use Power Tools! Power tools are always fun, and the thing is, they get the job done. And it is still a big job. But has been wisely said, "One foot up, and one foot down, that's the way to London town". Not that we plan on making that trip, but you get the point.

Thinkin'

I know I'm not a young man
-and that time is passing by
And soon I'll go to heaven
-or maybe not and fry
But there's one thing that I'm thinkin'
-and I'd really like to say
That the moon is gonna fall down
-on us all one of these days

I'm thinkin' 'bout that moon
-that God put up in the air
I'm thinkin' 'bout that moon
-and I hope it stays up there

There's nothing holds it up there
-it's really plain to see
And if it doesn't fall
-it may get stuck up in a tree
But if it doesn't fall
-I think it's really for the best
That it keeps on rising in the east
-and goes on setting in the west

I'm thinkin' 'bout that moon
-that God put up in the air
I'm thinkin' 'bout that moon
-and I hope it stays up there
Oh the moon is just a chunk of rock
-if what they say is true
Floating in the sky
-way above the blue
But if something would happen
-to that light up in the sky
It would really make me sad
-and I think I'd start to cry

I'm thinkin' 'bout that moon
-that God put up in the air
I'm thinkin' 'bout that moon
-and I hope it stays up there.

Flashbacks

On that recent "Tour de Big Cities" we were confronted with that Hippie Van. Here it is again.
The Fuzz thought this alteration might be appropriate. But it did bring back memories of a time back in "the days", when these (young) "Hippies" drove their own Micro Bus. We were able to dig this old picture out of the archives.
Unfortunately, this particular Micro Bus was lost in New Mexico due to some mechanical difficulties. But these people did go on to bigger and better things.

Those old VWs were kinda cool. They tended to sound like a bunch of loose stuff in a bucket. But they were fun to drive.
Now they have these silly pseudo bugs. But these are not real VW Bugs, not really.
The real VW was Hitler's idea, sort of a poor mans Porsche, maybe his only good idea. But we won't go there today.

Red Alert

Red Alert
It has been brought to our attention that some folks have had difficulty in reading this blog. In an attempt at some variety, and just for fun, The Fuzz had experimented with a Different font.
We have not had any trouble reading it here using Firefox or Safari, but will go back to the old font.
The Fuzz is sorry for any inconvenience.

Plumbing Problems

As Harvey Pekar has pointed out,"Ordinary life is pretty complex stuff". The Fuzz has found this to be true.
Take this situation for example. We have posted here, from time to time, updates, in the continuing saga of our Move to the Woods. I believe it was mentioned, back when we were involved with those exciting Mystery Pix, that we were anticipating the installation of a brand new Septic Tank. Well, it was installed, almost.
It seems that the Septic Tank Installer Guys are no longer allowed to actually hook up this important part of our new lifestyle. Something to do with licences or something. But since this is The Fuzz's own trailer, he is allowed to make this vital connection. And so, he was given detailed instructions and some pipe and stuff to accomplish this. Imagine his surprise when having completed this, he was told by the building inspector, it was just plain wrong. Now this inspector is not some heartless bureaucrat, but actually a reasonable person. He kindly explained what was wrong and told The Fuzz what to do to fix things. And so, that is what he is attempting to do.
Note in the above picture the presence of this "wrong fitting". In the picture below, you will see what is hopefully, the "right fitting"at "C". This fitting is supposed to be less subject to to being clogged up by nasty toilet paper and related matter. This is probably a good thing.
At "B" you will see the necessary "Purple Primer". It seems the old clear stuff is rather passe. Despite what he was told, gluing the pipe to the trailer is a no-no. At "A" we see the proper flexible rubber connection. To round things out,"D" points out the pipe to the Brand New Septic Tank.

We will get the inspector guy to come back and hopefully, this time, things will be OK and we'll move on to the next step.

Death on the Highway / Snack Time

On their way out to work on their new place, The Fuzz and His Sweetie saw all these birds gathered on the side of the road. Here they are up in this tree, waiting. And "waiting for what?" you might ask. Well in this shot they are waiting for us to move on. These are not just any birdies up there, they are those nasty Buzzards. And "What's the big attraction?" you may ask. In a word, Bambie.
It would seem that "Bambie" screwed up again. He must have been getting pointers from his little Possum friends, a very bad idea.
If you are the soft hearted type, or just have a weak stomach, you may wish to skip the rest of this post. But if you are into natural phenomenon, and the "cycle of life" (and death), you may find this interesting. And so The Fuzz is pleased to present-
Snack Time

Tour de Big Cities- continued

After all the excitement in this Big City (which is also a State Capital!) we headed off to visit School Teacher Daughter and her Literary Husband. After some more time on the highway, we made it to the next Big City, the current home of this happy couple. There we cooked those fishes, drank beer and just had a pleasant visit. As we were leaving town the next day, The Fuzz's Sweetie pointed out this Cool Hippie Van.
It was too good to resist a shot of it, so now you get to see it too.
Then it was back to the Big University to deliver the Care Package that somehow had been left in the car. But this was on the way to our next visit to the home of Famous Artist Daughter.
There we enjoyed a refreshing visit over a leisurely meal.
And once again, it was time to hit the road.
The trip home was thankfully, uneventful. The one noteworthy thing was that we got to avoid the last Big City by using the New Beltway. Thing like that are always nice.
And for one last picture, we present, Famous Artist Daughter's Kitty Cat.
This unfortunate Kitty used to be an Inside Kitty, but due to some bad habits now resides "inside" this cat carrier on the back porch. So Kitties take note, our Patience has it's limits.

Tour de Big Cities

First, let's congratulate "vi" for correctly identifying that troublesome Mystery Pix.
It is in fact, only a lowly Lego.

But many thanks to all who used the imagination and came up with so many great guesses. We must admit, we did not intend for it to be easy. And so it is time to move on.

On the road again
It seemed like a good time for some visiting. So we loaded up the car and hit the road. We knew this trip would involve Big Cities and that sort of thing, but we can take it. We hit the first Big City, not for a visit, but a stop at the Overseas Market there for some fresh fish and other overseas stuff. Then with our fish on ice in the cooler, it was back on the road.

The Big City has lots of big buildings. This building was across from the Bookstore.
This was where we met up with College Student Son, School Teacher Daughter and that Dangerous Daughter with the battle ax in her bedroom.
They also got to meet that Silly New Puppy.
But note here in this picture, the little sign that caught The Fuzz's Sweetie's eye. That's right, a whole bunch of 10 cent Books. This is the sort of thing that can not be passed up! So we did spend some time here. But it was OK cause they did have "facilities" there. (And since that subject came up, The Fuzz wanted me to mention that this was the only "bathroom" he had ever seen where the walls were covered with books.)
After the bookstore, we headed down the street for some lunch. Said Son had participated in some sort of insane "Doughnut Challenge" where they run 2 miles, eat an even dozen doughnuts and then run the 2 miles back. Fortunately, he had gotten his apatite back by now.
After a tasty snack (although not without complications) we took a stroll around the campus and narrowly avoided being run over by these weirdos hurdling down the hill on some sort of strange contraptions.

We'll have more on this exciting trip later.

Last Chance

OK.
We'll try it one more time.
Yes, this is the same Mystery Object know as the "Mystery Pix". The Fuzz says he can't believe no one has got this yet. Think back, way back, to happier days, those carefree days, when life was simple. We don't want to say too much more, or it would be a giveaway!

2nd Chance

Here's another shot of our current Mystery Pix.

We've had some pretty good guesses, but unfortunately, none have been correct. So we've decided to maybe help out with this. This is the same mystery object, but with a slightly different look. I hope we didn't make it too easy. Good luck again.

More Mystery Pix Reveled

More Mystery Pix reveled!
This one goes back a little, but there were no correct guesses. We will admit, it was a tricky one. Don't know if even "insider information" would have helped. But hey, we can't make these things too easy.
I guess you would call this some kind of strainer or something. But the "pose" was a bit misleading. It was all The Fuzz's fault. He says he just thought it was a cool pix.

In other matters, we talked to the septic tank men, and they hope to get started on that next week. Maybe we'll make it out to the woods yet. The Power Co. ran a line out, but it's not cut on yet. When we get though with all this inspection stuff, we'll get to work on some of our Home Improvements. There's plenty of that to keep us busy for a while.

And now, getting back to these exciting Mystery Pix, The Fuzz has a new one for your puzzlement and enjoyment.
Enjoy!

Mystery Pix Reveled

We finally had success with our Mystery Pix. It seems that The Fuzz's attempts at disguise were no match for the Azulparsnip's extensive knowledge of natural history and powers of deduction. Our Mystery Pix was, in fact, a seed ball (Gumball) from a Sweetgum Tree. These things are kinda cool looking, and we can see the Canuck's "virus" speculation. Sounds like there could be a story behind this. But The Fuzz asked me to point out that these things are a bitch to step on barefoot.

And now for your enjoyment, we present a slightly blurry photograph of our first Crocus of the year.
Of course, they are calling for 20 F (wind chill 9 F) tonight with a chance of snow, but this little blossom means that Spring is on the way.
