Across New England

The Fuzz had a Cousins Get Together over in upstate New York on the coming weekend.
So he and His Sweetie packed up their camp there in Maine, and headed west.
They had decided to avoid the freeways and enjoy the countryside.
And the plan was to stop at a motel for the night, rather then having to set up camp, only to break it in the morning.
Lunchtime found them over in New Hampshire.

They found a nice place off of the road to stop for a break.
Then it was back on the road.

As happens sometimes, it was taking a bit longer than expected to get to their planned destination.
But then, there was no exact destination in mind, just someplace close to the New York border.
As it began to grow late, they were hoping to find a small motel for the night.
But these small towns didn't really have any motels.
Eventually, they came out on one of the main roads, and found...
The Sugar House
Motel!
Nothing fancy, of course.
But they were actually able to open the windows for some fresh air.
There was no restaurant, and they had no desire to get back in the car.  But there was still a bit of grub left in the cooler, not to mention a bottle of wine.
So they did alright; planning on stopping for breakfast in the morning.
When it got light, they found this Rolls Royce in the parking lot.
Now it was time to head over to New York, and the Reunion.
Looking at the map, they saw a place to cross Lake Champlain...
by Ferry!
Now that would be cool.
They drove to Shoreham, on the east shore of Champlain.
The Ferry crosses over to Ticonderoga, in New York.

There is a whole Historical Thing here, involving the French & Indian Wars - and the American Revolution;
But we won't get into that here.
The Fuzz and His Sweetie were only here to ride the Ferry...
and find some breakfast.

So they drove onto the boat...
and paid the 10 bucks.

It doesn't take long to cross the narrow lake.
Here you can see the cable that guides the Ferry across.

Then it was into the little town of Ticonderoga, to look for a cafe.
