The Bad and the Good

This is a Garbage Truck. If it seems a little bit, some how, not exactly "right", it's not your eyes, don't worry, it's not you. There seems to be some problem with the horizontal-vertical stuff. I tried to fix this, but something's still not right.

It seems there was a mishap on the way to the dump. Somehow this truck lost it's footing, if trucks have "footing". Maybe it's not that, maybe it "capsized". But can something capsize if it's not at sea ?

Well now it seems to be stuck on the wall. But, that's not really a wall, it looks more like the ground. Maybe there is a big magnetical field here.

First, fear not, The Fuzz was not involved in this. And I'm happy to report that the driver of this vehicle was not seriously damaged.
The truck was righted and the road cleared.
The oily dirt dug up and replaced, grass re-seeded.

But it was not a good day for our department.

Still don't know how bad the damage is, but needless to say, this vehicle will be down for a while.

And here is the Happy Couple.

Here we see Happy Son and Happy Daughter in Law, in the Tropical Paradise.
They took a long trip for a Tropical Wedding. They did make it home safe, and we hope to get to the partying soon.

Can we say, Mazel tov !

I saw that happen to a dump truck once. It was raining and the streets were wet. It is flat here so there are no hills. The truck was going slow, trying to stop at a light. It went through the intersection and ran off the road. The second that the passenger side tires left the paved road - the thing just heeled over. The truck was maybe going 5 or 10 MPH at this point.

There were two people in the truck. Neither were hurt. No other vehicles were involved. This was before cell phones were common so I let the two guys in my delivery van and drove them to the gas station a block away. It was raining after all.

I have also heard of the weather event known as a "microburst" doing that. Microbursts have downed commercial jet liners.

L- This one was attempting a turn. It seems that it ran over the curb and that was enough to get things started in the wrong direction. There was some question about the speed though.

W- It is not good. Now we are down a truck that is used every day. The driver should be OK.
