Since we're on the subject of Gardening, here's a look at our potential Snow Peas.
They already look tasty.
We did get a bit of rain, so maybe they will make. I hope so, since they are so delicious.
This is not so delicious. It is The Fuzz's Right Foot.
It is all dirty and skint up. He went out in the woods with his wet and dry sandals. There he had to wade around in a creek, hence the mud. The skint up part is a result of not wearing real boots. But The Fuzz is a Tuff Guy and he can take it.
This came about in relation to the recent Encroach of Civilization. This will probably come up in future posts as it progresses. But for now, all I have to show, is a picture of a foot.
And then finally, I saw these two Fuzzy Dandelions.
The Fuzz couldn't resist having a bit of fun with them.
And so for now, the last day of Apelila, Bye Bye.

Some of Those Little Things
Those "Little Things". That's what this blog is supposed to be about, isn't it ?
So here are some Little Things of Daily Life.
This is some Peaches, or what will be some peaches if things work out.
The Frost didn't get them this year, at least not yet. There is supposed to be a chance for it tomorrow night, but it might not amount to anything.
And here's some more. This time it's Apples, or in this case, an Apple.
Actually there are more than one. If you look close, there are some more on the left.
This year the trees were covered with blooms, so maybe we'll get some fruit.
A few years ago, they didn't even bloom. The Fuzz had never seen anything like that, and said so. I don't remember his exact words, but they were something to that effect. But this year is better.
And last but not least, a nameless little kitty cat.
Something seems to to be a bit different on this Blogger Place today. The Fuzz is hoping it will work OK.
So here's hoping.

"What's New"
People used to tease The Fuzz, how he should be afraid to go home and ask "What's new". Well here's the latest thing. When he got home, Young Daughter insisted on showing him a "Surprise".
In truth it wasn't a complete surprise, since this sort of thing can't really go unnoticed.
So here they are. Six (6) brand new tiny little kitty cats. And of course their Mommy.
As for the Daddy, no one seems to be ready to take responsibility for this. We may have to resort to DNA testing to see who is in it for the kitten support.
And The Fuzz has insisted that I apologize to Woodie, whose Cat Poetry Contribution I somehow missed in the previous post.
black cat wanders by with muddy paws
leaving me to wonder the cause
'till on the ledge what do I find?
fresh corn sprouts met with furry jaws,
my summer garden undermined.
And it is a good one.

Wastefull Little Birdies
The Fuzz likes to feed the little birdies in the winter. They are quite wasteful some times though. These Volunteer Sunflowers are one result. Of course they're not Sunflowers yet, but they're on the way. But then, maybe they are still Sunflowers before they bloom. Or are they merely Sunflower Plants. These questions are kinda complicated, so I'll just let it go for now. They probably won't do very well though now that the trees are leafing out. After all, they are Sunflowers.
Well the Pipeline Guys seem to be gone now. The holes are filled up and there is straw on the ground. I guess we'll see what happens next.
We don't really know who "dieta" or "wireless" are, but The Fuzz thanks that Iguana Guy and Maria for their contributions to his ongoing collection of Cat Poetry.
Iguana-
Cats make poo,
And that ain't cool.
But its OK,
Because they make up for it in other ways.
Maria-
cats are clean,
cats are furry.
cats will scratch you in a hurry.
cats are prissy,
cats - they prance.
it is funny to watch them do the tape dance.
cats are crazy,
cats are lazy,
and the Koreans think cats are tasty!

Puddin' Is On Top of Things
Here's some of the new fig leaves. They're not big enough for the traditional use of fig leaves yet, but they will be soon. Here also, is Puddin' the cat. I could tell you that this is the "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", but that would be a lie. The roof is Tin, but it's not Hot. That will come this summer.Actually, he's up there chasing birdies. They nest up under the nearby eaves, and he is fascinated of course.
The Fuzz wanted me to remind y'all about Cat Poetry. So I will. Don't be shy here, feel free to contribute your own Gems of Wit and Wizdumb here.
Here's the much anticipated update to the Cat Poetry Collection , which, of course, welcomes new contributions. Feel free to add your own in the Comments. Come on folks, you can do it.
In reply to The Fuzz's Ode to Kitty Cats-
"Cats are Evil
Cats are Mean
Cats Tear Up
Your Backdoor Screen."
The Lazy Iguana says-
"Cats are smart
Cats are crafty.
If you do not let them in,
Things could get nasty."

I have not poetry to add today but I will pass on a bit of wisdom our cat Cricket tells us many times a day:
"it's not easy being furry"
and I think even the FUZZ can agree with that!
Fuzz said...
Cats are fuzzy
Cats are furry
Cats don't seem to
Have a worry
rizzo and cricket said...
warm fur we have
but we aren't dumb
we'd gladly trade
our fur for thumbs
Fuzz said...
Ain't thumbs great ?
But cats are out of luck
'Tis a pity but it's true
Not having thumbs must suck.
The Canuck said...
Cats love big balls of yarn,
They play with paws that wack,
If they lick themselves too much,
You'll discover a puddle of yack!

some folks w/ thumbs suck, too.

cats are rude
cats are stinky
cats refuse to lift a pinky
cats are shifty
cats don't smile
cats think you have no taste or style
cats are proud
cats love to boast
when you turn your back
cats eat your toast
The Fuzz has to go wash the dishes now, but, Cats....
They Won't hit a Lick,
They Won't Do the Dishes,
They Just Sit by the Fish Tank,
And Watch the Swimming Fishes.
And then The Fuzz said...
Cats don't like
To drink that stuff,
Too bad Kitty,
That's just tuff.
And now The Lazy Iguana has added.....
Binkie's ears
Are all pinned back.
watch out for the teeth
Or your fingers may need a patch.

The Yearly Mark Wood Concert
It's time for the yearly Mark Wood Concert.
For the past few years the High School Orchestra has sponsored this affair to raise money. Every body (almost) needs money, especially "The Arts". But "The Arts" are a good thing for kids to be involved in. It's a chance to get some Culture and all that. So they get this guy, who is somewhat famous I take it, to come down here and do all this. They work with the kids and get them to play backup for them in these concerts. This is actually the middle school on stage here. The Fuzz was over there to see Young Daughter in action. But you really can't see her in the picture.
You can see this guy though. I don't really know who he is, but he seems to have found a way to make his job a little easier. This is some of that Encroach of Civilization stuff. These people have come here and dug holes and disrupted traffic and all. In the holes, they are burying big pipes. Rumor has it that they plan to let water run though these pipes. I guess they'll get the water from the river. The City has something to do with this.
I suppose this will be a good thing, considering the Drought and Global Warming and all. But The Fuzz has mixed feelings about it all.
It may be time to break camp, and move farther back into the woods.

The Encroach of Civilization
As The Fuzz walked out the other day, this is what he found, a collection of little orange flags in front of the house.
And then, there were a bunch of arrows and stuff on the ground. Obviously something is going on around here.
And then down the road there was all this stuff.
It looks like The Encroach of Civilization.

Ol' Stone Face
Here's Ol' Stone Face himself.
This is another of the wonders of the Home of the Famous University. I've seen the sentiment expressed that Bikers seem to always have that sort of "stone faced" look when they're riding around. I suppose there's something to that. I've noticed that The Fuzz tends toward that himself. Well I don't know if this is a Biker or not, but he does seem to be stoned.
Well, The Fuzz finds these places interesting, but is always glad to get back to his home in the sticks.
It seems that he may have to deal with the encroach of civilization sooner than he would have liked. But that is a long and complicated story which we will have to go into at another time, if at all.
So for now, just enjoy this picture of Ol' Stone Face.

It's Medication Time !
This is not a happy camper. You may ask, "Why would anybody do this to a sweet little pussycat ?" If you've ever had to administer a dose of medication to one of these vicious things, you won't have to ask. Actually, this critter is not so bad as some. The Local Daughter has a particularly vicious one. This "Miss Kitty" has even been declawed but still has her teeth and rear claws. She is mostly OK, but if you try to get her into a cat carrier or something, you will bleed.
Young "Binkie" here, is not quite on that level, thank God. This is the system The Fuzz's Sweetie has developed for just such circumstances. It is quite effective. Binkie however, does not seem to appreciate this. Note the Ears. But of course it is all for her own good, right ?
Since the subject came up, don't forget The Fuzz's Extensive Collection of Cat Poetry. Come on people, we need more of this stuff. Great literature like-
Cats don't like
To drink that stuff,
Too bad Kitty,
That's just tuff.
(Or should that be "tough" ?.... Whatever)

Money and Chess
Here's a bit of our springtimey landscape.
These purple blossoms are our Money Plant. Yes, that's right. Money may not grow on trees, but these are the real "Money Plants". Just so you know-
"Money plant was introduced to England from Germany in the late 1500s and brought to America by the Puritans. Money plant is also called honesty, silver dollar, satinflower, penny flower, Judas' penny, and moonwart."
So, unfortunately, it's not "Legal Tender". But they are pretty nice to have arround since they bloom early and reseed themselves in every year. Actually, they can kinda take over an area. But we enjoy them a lot.
At the Home of the Famous University The Fuzz saw this Chess Set.
It seems to be ready for the Big Game.
The Fuzz used to try to play Chess sometimes, but he's gotten so he doesn't care to these days. He says that he gets sucked in and takes it too serious. That's no fun. Maybe that's what happens to some of those Chess Guys. They go a little crazy. Maybe more than a little.
But be that as it may, We're just admiring the Chess Pieces here, not trying to conquer the Chess World or anything.

Signs of the Times (Spring)
More signs of spring here.
This Poplar Tree stands outside the bedroom window. In the summer it shades this side of the house. This time of year, the sun can be a little intense, and even burn our poor pale bodies, since there is no shade. But that is beginning to change. These are the tiny new leaves. It's always nice to see them. By the fall they will be kinda burnt out, and beat up looking.
But for now they have that tender spring color that is so welcome after the grey and brown of winter.
Here are some of the first Apple Blossoms. If there is no late freeze, we may get some apples this year. Last year we had a late freeze that wiped us out. But this year may be better, I hope so.
Well, The Fuzz split up most of the Fire Wood still in the yard. Maybe we won't need much more, but there will still be some cold nights I'm sure. Probably some cold, rainy days too. We've had right smart of rain lately. That hole in the yard is full of water. This is a good thing, it's nice to have water.
While he was busy out there, the Girls were busy in here working on a little project.
And so, we are managing to stay busy.

Cute and Furry
Warning ! Graphic Content !
Long time readers (Ha Ha !) will remember Puddin', the Cat Who Thinks He's a People.
Well he's pretty well grown now, and some of those Cat Tendencies seem to be coming out after all. He seems to be quite proud of himself here. But to tell the truth, I'm not sure if he made the kill himself or not. I may be Hard Hearted, but there are plenty of squirrels here and as THe Fuzz says, "What's one squirrel, more or less ?"
It would seem he does have that bad habit of playing with his food.
Having had a "Brush" himself doesn't seem to have softened his heart, though.Well, cats will be cats, and he seems fond of the girls also.
And now something a bit less Grim.
Whist we were at the Home of the Famous University last, we came upon this little Work of Art. The Fuzz likes this sort of thing, and has been known to dabble in it himself at times. And being armed with a camera, he couldn't resist the opportunity to share it with all these loyal readers of ours. The tree caught his attention at first but check out all the cool details, like the pump, and rain gutter.
Also, The Fuzz asked me to apologize for not posting lately. He said he has been occupied with some other matters which he asked me not to go into at this time. So in deference to The Fuzz, I will not bring them up here. Let's just say that life can have it's complications.
