Nightfall At The Lakecamp

When we left The Fuzz last time, he was doing a bit of bird watching whilst waiting for the sunset…
and his dinner!

There were not a lot of other campers here in mid-week…
(which is one advantage to retirement)

But there were a couple of guys camped just a bit up the road.
And they were making the most of things.

Which made for more photo-fun for Our Fuzz.

Just like the interplay of the water and land…
That of day and night…
Light and darkness…
Makes Photo-Ops.
So here's just a couple shots of this candle-latern.
Enjoy.

In The Dark

While staying at the Main Street Inn here at Topsail Beach, The Fuzz and His Sweetie have a great view from their room...

Especially of the "Sound" side of the island.
After dark the lights across on the mainland can easily be seen.
The Fuzz noted these flashing tower lights...
But he also noted this other blinking light, below the horizon.
(He apologizes for not having them all in one view, but it was just too difficult to time a shot to get simultaneous flashes!)

Anyhow...

Having seen the lights at night, he knew pretty well where to look in the daylight to find the sources.
So he got out the binoculars.
It wasn't hard to find the two towers.

Just across from Topsail Beach is the Intracoastal Waterway.
And this was the clue to the origin of the lower light.
When he checked the area where he had seen the light, no source was seen, so again the binoculars were put to use.
Here's a look.

If one looks carefully,* he may see, just above "Point A"...
The source of that mysterious blinking light.

*Due to the limitations of his equipment, the Fuzz regrets that this is the best he could do.
