Another Day… Another Lake

Well it's been awhile again.  This seems to be a trend these days.
So, what's up with The Fuzz?

Well, first he was on "Grandpa Duty" for awhile.
This involved trying to keep up with a wild little granddaughter while her momma was at work.
And this did keep him busy, we assure you.

But he did survive.

When he got back in town there was a bit of gardening to take care of.

And that seems to be doing fine for now.

There had been a good deal of rain around here while he was gone.  It turned out that the water had pooled up on the Molly B's tarp-cover and kinda caved it in.
This sorta bent up the PVC frame for the sun awning.
He's attempting to get things straitened out now.
How well this works remains to be seen.

But he did make it up to the lake yesterday.
And got a look at this guy.
But he didn't stay still for long…
Still dragging the landing gear.
And one last brief look before he was gone.
Sorry the pix aren't better though.

The Fuzz caught a couple of tiny fishes, then spent the rest of the day on a slow exploration cruise.
It turned out to be a nice day.

Gardening Catch Up

So what has The Fuzz been up to now that he is no longer a productive member of society?
Digging Taters!
Monday morning he was over at the Old Place.  Things had grown up a bit since everyone was out at the beach.  The Tater vines had died back, and it was time to see whether they had done any good.
It was already hot, even early like this.  But there was nothing for it, but to grab the turning fork, and go to work.
Here's a look at what he dug up.
Some were good sized, some less so.  And there were those tiny ones as well.  But they go great in stew.  And of course New Taters taste so good.
But there was still the Okra to deal with.  It needed to be thinned badly.  And was over run with weeds.  He ran out of time on that one, and had to go back this morning, to finish the job.
But Our Fuzz was up to the task.  Now that's a nice stand of Okra.
When he finished with that, he went to work cutting the grass, which had not taken a vacation just because he had.
And here is a look at the old garden now.  On the left is bare ground!  (This is where the Taters were.)  Next is a row of Leeks.  (There are some out at the trailer also.)  And on the right, those 4 rows of Okra.  The unkept area in the foreground is an untamable patch of Mint.
The Fuzz is hoping tomorrow might be a bit more laid back.  After all, he is retired now.

Still At It

Even though we have been settled into our new home in the woods for some time now, we still have the old place.
And we do use it for various things. We still plan on working the old garden. In fact we were over there the other day planting some taters. And whilst His Sweetie was busy with other matters, The Fuzz was tackling this stove pipe issue.
The Fuzz's Sweetie has been working on some projects over there, and with the colder weather she has been using the wood stove to keep warm. While he was cleaning the chimney the other day, he discovered that there wasn't much stovepipe left to clean.
This was not a good situation. So, once again, it was time for a trip to that Home Improvement Store. The two middle sections seemed to have a bit of life left in them, so he decided to go for the quick fix this time. He purchased an elbow and one section of pipe. He also picked up some chainsaw related items for another project*. Back at the house, he put it all back together. Here's a look at this patched-up heating system. With luck, it should make it through 'till warm weather.

*We'll try to update you on this one soon.

Same Old..........

Not all that much going on around here. Well, it may be a bit misleading to say that. Actually, we are staying busy these days. But it's mostly the same old same old. We are waiting for something significant, but that's totally out of our hands. And so life goes on. It's been mostly just going to work in the morning, and then coming home. Getting up in the morning, and going to bed at night.
This weekend we watched "Pixar Short Films: Vol. 1" from Netflix. It was pretty good, fun to watch. But we also cut wood, went to town, dug up plants,
went to the store and then replanted some of them. Now I'm trying to stay awake for this little post.
Since we like to get pix up on our posts, The Fuzz fixed up this one of some old rusted up equipment he saw down by a creek.
We still seem to be dealing with a bit of winter here. "They're" calling for more of that snow for Tuesday. The Fuzz says we'll see what happens then.

A little bit of Fuzzy Thinking

Another Hang-up

With The Fuzz's Sweetie out of town, and Young Daughter visiting friends, The Fuzz was left to puppy sit. He also had to deal with a shrinking wood pile. He had already found a dead tree nearby, so he figured this was a good time to go get it.
Naturally, there was a hang-up. As can be seen here, the top of the tree he was cutting (A) hung up on one of it's neighbors (B).
After a number of unsuccessful attempts to rock the thing loose, he finally gave up on that.
All his help was gone, so he had to be a bit creative. He went and got out that old faithful Come-a-long. One end was fastened to that uncooperative tree, the other to another one. The it was only a matter of carefully pulling tree A to the side until it's topmost branches finally broke free.
And as they say, It's hard to argue with success!

Chores

Back home from our adventures. Now it was time for a few chores. There was the usual firewood stuff. The Fuzz had to cut some of the longer pieces down a bit to fit in the various stoves. While he was at all that, he gave the stovepipe a good brushing. Then His Sweetie and he pulled a few weeds out of the garden.
Today, he was confronted with this Funky Fishtank Filter.
So now we have Happy Fishes.
And then, there were all these ashes in the heater. Actually, this was not too bad. But with these warm afternoons, and the fire being out, it was a good chance to get them before laying up a new fire.
And so life goes on, not a lot of excitement. But if the weather is right, there may be something for this weekend.
