Foggy Morning
Thanksgiving morning started with a bit of fog.
We were headed off to Thanksgiving Dinner later in the day at the home of the Local Daughter and that Culinary Son-in-Law. But in the meantime, there were a few things to take care of at home. The Fuzz's Sweetie was fixing up some dressing to go with the turkey, and some veggies for a salad.
When we arrived, we were greeted with these munchie nuggets.
There were lots of yummy sausage balls and what seems to be some sort of American Sushi.
There didn't seem to be any of that seaweed or raw fish but they were tasty.
There was also a curious device with a red knob on top. When one mashed that little red knob, one was rewarded with a shot of mezcal (but no worm) in one of the little tiny glasses. This became a popular feature.
We could post a pix of the turkey here, but most folks already know what that looks like anyway, so just use your imagination.
We were joined by the in-law folks, and had a great dinner. It must be confessed that we ended up spending the night there, as it didn't seem wise to try and drive home at the time.
Well, that's it for our Thanksgiving Day with The Fuzz and all the rest. Tomorrow, it's the
Dentist!

Welcoming Committee

Their Dining Room is on top of this stack of bricks to be safe from their Canine Competitors. That Long Little Doggy is excessively fond of Kittie Krunchies, and pretty good at getting to them.
We have a lot to be thankful for this year including our new home in the woods. Today, we plan to visit the Local Daughter and that Culinary Son-in-Law for a Thanksgiving feast. It should be great.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Givin' Up

It has been said that "When you are beat, meet defeat". Well, that seems to be the situation here with The Fuzz and his little truck. This has gone on far too long. Indicators point to at least 2 possible causes for this frustrating case of equipment failure, And neither can be verified for certain. Both are expensive to replace. And both have been replaced in the past. Considering the age of the truck, and the improbability of success, The Fuzz refuses to continue this pointless pursuit. He confesses that he is not happy about this, but we have been managing to get by with out the sorry little thing anyway.
We have this little automobile, it is capable of pulling our little trailer, and as The Fuzz would say, "It don't use much gas". When it's not raining, The Fuzz rides the motorcycle in to work. If it is, we can all ride together in the car. And so, life goes on.
The Fuzz had toyed with the idea of pulling the engine, and replacing it with some simple, non-computerized sort of engine, like we used to have back in the days. But it seems that the legalities involved in this would send him to jail. He does not like jail. But we should look at all this as another oportunity to simplify, I suppose. And that can be a good thing.

Even More Renaissance Stuff
We promised a look at some of those Renaissance Characters running loose out there. You don't meet a fellow like this very often on the outside, but here you will.
This whole Renaissance Affair is a lot more fun if one dresses appropriately. If one were to dress like this on the street, one might get locked up, especially if armed. But here you can carry your broadsword all you want. This is the home of broadswords & beer. They do insist on tying a piece of ribbon around it, but so what.
This guy does seem to be a hit with the ladies though.
We did watch a couple of the acts. But for the most part, we didn't do much, but walk around and look. Even if you can't buy, you can get ideas on how to make your own cool stuff.
So here's one more of those Renaissance Characters for you.

More Renaissance Stuff
When we go to the Renaissance Festival, we always make a point of watching the birdies. And by the time we got to the birdies, The Fuzz had retrieved his camera from the trunk of the car.
The food in there is a bit pricey for a varlet like The Fuzz, so we usually slip off with our cooler into the woods for our own medieval meal. This time we remembered the camera.
It's hard to get real close to these birds for a pix, and they don't always hold still. But here's a couple of pictures with that zoomed in effect. 1st, of course is this owl.
Here's the lady upstairs with her falcon. He looks a little like a bug with his eyes covered like that. But she took that stuff off, and let him fly. If you look quick you might see him here.
They had the falcon trying to snatch a lure being whirled around on a cord. I guess he finally got it, but The Fuzz couldn't get the pix. Next time we'll get a look at a couple of the strange characters running loose out there.

Morning Pix
Most of the leaves have fallen now, and the days are cooler. Today it's rainy again. On these cold, damp nights the fire feels good. Tomorrow is a day off work for The Fuzz in honor of Veteran's Day.

Renaissance Festival

It seems that our last post here was on November 3rd. This was like 6 days ago! For those average readers of Kinda Fuzzy, this is almost a week! You don't need to do the math yourselves (either of you) as you can see The Fuzz has done it for you.
The Fuzz confesses that this is all his fault. His lame excuse is he has been A) busy, or B) lazy.
We have been moving some furniture around, and there is always Firewood to get up.

Trouble, Revisited
A brief update here-
After spending a bunch of money (needed elsewhere) on that pitiful truck, the sorry thing laid down on us next to the Taco Bell. Even The Fuzz himself, was unable to get it to crank. He, and His Sweetie were forced to walk home. And on top of that, he had to pay to have the thing brought back to the house! At this point, The Fuzz was so disgusted that he just left the thing sitting in the yard. This was the point where the truck was (sorta) replaced by a trailer for the more dependable car.
And The Fuzz must admit, that although he misses his little truck, this trailer rig has performed quite well. But with winter upon us, it seems like the time has come to give that sorry thing an other look.
And so The fuzz is once again getting involved in this mechaniking stuff. First he wanted to determine if the fuel injectors were in fact receiving a "signal" from the high tech processor that makes it all work. (or not work as the case may be) So he dug around and got out a little LED and plugged it into the fuel injector thing. (seen above) And to his great satisfaction, there was a signal. He is hoping that this means the processor is not actually fried. But he has also discovered that there is no fire to the spark plugs. So now the next step is to try and find out why. Maybe he'll get lucky this time.
So "what's with the chopper" you may ask? "What does it have to do with this truck?" Well, actually nothing. The Fuzz happened to have his camera on hand for making pictures of truck parts (for future reference) and he saw this thing flying around up there. It seems someone found some people bones out there in the nearby woods and somehow the chopper had something to do with all that sad affair.

Fall & Other Stuff
It still hasn't gotten real cold yet, but so far that little wood stove has kept us warm. The roof seems to be holding up well too.
Apples are in season and we're on our 2nd bushel now. In fact, The Fuzz's Sweetie is cooking up some for supper with some taters and meatloaf. Yummy!
We finally got that beat up old cookstove out of the living room and out of here. So, things do seem to be coming together.

It's That Time Again
The Fuzz's Sweetie made this nifty thing for carrying it into the trailer. Pretty handy.
Being already here in the woods, there is a ready supply of the stuff. In the past we have had to make wood cutting excursions to bring the stuff home.
But now, the stuff is out there in the "yard".
The Fuzz has been cutting up some of the trees that were pushed down to make way for our septic system. Then, he loads them in the wheelbarrow and rolls them up to the house*.
The wood is pretty much dried out, just a little damp from laying on the ground. The pieces are mostly small enough not to need splitting. Here you can see his little buddy keeping him company on the job.
On the left, you can see the trailer in the background. It's not really too far to roll the wood, and it's a whole lot easier than-
1- Driving out here,
2- Cutting it,
3- Loading the truck,
4- Driving home
5- And stacking it.
We've got a small pile covered with a piece of tarp near the door. We do keep a bit inside, by the heater, ready to use. The Fuzz usually gets up at least once during the night to check the fire and add wood. But at his age, he's usually up anyway.
How 'bout those Green walls!
*Those very professional guys who moved the trailer always referred to it as "the house". The Fuzz thought this a bit curious at the time, but now finds himself doing it.

Mystery Pix- Take 2
It seems that our latest Mystery Pix is still a mystery.
So The Fuzz wanted to give y'all another shot at it.
Different pix, same object.

New Mystery Pix
The Fuzz has been pretty busy lately. First it was that affair with the stoves, and then today we swapped in a new (used) dryer. He also had to put a new battery on his motorcycle. Before that, it was the roof, and a whole lot of rain.
But now, he thought it might be time for some fun. And what could be more fun than a Brand New Mystery Pix! And so for your enjoyment, we present our latest

Stove In
It may look fine here, but if you get a closer look, a few problems will become apparent.
You will notice that the burner elements don't appear to be exactly level.
This is because they are all pretty much "tore up".
You will also notice that there appears to be a knob missing.
And there's a reason this knob is not there.
It seems that if one were to attempt to use the burner controlled by this particular knob, this stove had a tendency to "bite".
This was not an ideal situation, and was the reason The Fuzz's Sweetie had removed this knob.
This situation, and the fact that the burners had a tendency to fall though the top of this thing, seemed like a good reason for The Fuzz to bring the relatively new stove from the old place.
So, The Fuzz and His Sweetie pulled this thing out of it's place and loaded it onto the trailer and hauled it though town, back to the old place. Then they dragged the thing into the kitchen, and then pulled the good one out. It was then that it was discovered that one stove had a 3 prong plug, whist the other had 4 prongs.
This did complicate things. But The Fuzz is not one to let minor complications stop him, and he figured he could simply swap the "pigtails", assuming the extra wire was some sort of "ground".
So he pulled the back off of the "good" stove to get to the wires. This was when he discovered this (arrow at left) situation. It seems that the terminal block was somewhat melted. This was probably caused by a loose connection, which could get a little hot.
This thing would clearly need to be replaced. Unfortunatly at this time on the weekend there was no way to obtain the necessary replacement part. So there was nothing left for it, (unless we wanted to eat cold food for a while!) but to load the old stove back on the trailer, and take them both home. And so, the old stove was re-installed.
The Fuzz's Sweetie did point out that we had actually achieved our goal for the day of moving the good stove out to the trailer, and it must be admitted that this was, in fact, the truth.
Well, The Fuzz removed the bad part and purchased a replacement after work this evening. And using it, he switched those pigtails and swapped out the stoves.
And so, we present, our spiffy "new" cookstove.
