It is the middle of January. What is this tropical bird doing in our back yard ? Probably freezing it's tush. This birdie isn't here for the sunflower seeds, in fact it doesn't seem to eat much at all. Today it is around 40' F and drizzling rain, not real tropical. Birdie was a Christmas gift from Yankee Sister. (Many thanks) But it does remind us of our son basking in tropical Florida. It seems he was seduced by the dark side into participating in a grueling half marathon foot race, to be held in that tropical paradise. First reports indicate that he ran well. Congratulations to son and entire team for race well run.
Here ? we've been mostly laying low, staying warm and dry, and working on a few projects. The US Weather service thinks we'll get snow or something tonight, but I'll believe it when I see it. I wonder what that bird would look like with an icy overcoat.

The Miami Marathon is this weekend. Saturday, January 27.
Is there another marathon going on I do not know about?
This was in Clearwater, 1/21/07
He finished 1st in his age group. My sister in Bradenton went to see him.
GO JOEL! the pic from Aunt Sue was great, thanks for sharing. And Joel's mousing 'round now, I guess. He really has a talent for running!
Clearwater? EWWWWWW!
I know some way better marathons than that for next year!
1. Disney Marathon. It happens early in January, like the second weekend or something. You get to run through all the parks, and there is motivational music and stuff playing along the route. With all things Disney, participants get excellent support and service.
2. The Miami Marathon, right here in Miami! You get to run around Miami. This is a growing event that is attracting some of the world's top runners. Last weekend in January.
end of plugs.
By the way, finishing at all is an accomplishment! I could not run no 26 miles. But to finish first in your class is something else.
This was a Half Marathon, but still a long way to run.
Every marathon has a half marathon as well. It is just the way things are.
And yea, it is a hell of a long way to run!
